After a gig a guitar-enthusiast photographer took a look at my Morse and remarked, "What's that some kind of Strat knock-off?":D

I have a story about EB strings. I went to guitar center (El Paso) yesterday to buy a present for Duffy (other guitarist). After waiting in line for 30 minutes, the customer in front of me wanted to buy some strings.

The sales associate asked him which ones he wanted.

Customer replied, "last one's I used were some DR's."

SA: "Do you want those again"

Customer: "I don't care, I am open for suggestions"

SA: "I personally like DR's a lot. Those are great, we sell some EB strings too but the quality are not that great. They are not up to par with these other ones like DR's and D'Addarios."

Customer: "okay, I'll take those."

This pissed me off because it's his bias opinion. He just blacklisted this customer into not trying EB and judging for himself.

When I payed, I needed some strings, so I said

"I'll have some of those low quality Power Slinky's"

We both gave each other this "death look". I wished our guitar center was more like the other guitar centers. :(

Funny thing happened to me yesterday. During my Chemistry class break, I went onto the forum in the computer lab and my classmate was sitting next to me. I was browsing through the forum and I guess he was being nosy...he was like "MUSIC MAN??!?!?"

I of course puzzled, turned to him and asked "what? Is there something wrong with Music Man?" I didnt know that he played guitar, so I asked him if he play and he said yes. So I proceeded to find out more details what the issue was. After asked him what the problem was, his response was "I don't LIKE Music Man guitars".

I was like "WHY?" His response "I dont like them because they dont SOUND GOOD". HAHHAHAHAHAHA Thats what was going through my head. I asked him where he got this impression from, since this is one of the MOST absurd things I have EVER heard from anyone. I asked him if he ever played one and his response "NO". So I of course proceeded to lecture him and make him feel stupid for saying a retarded statement like that. He HEARD this statement from someone else, so he immediately saved this in his memory that it is true and therefore does not like MUSIC MAN without EVER hearin or playing one.

Of course he has been playing for 1 year and has a PRS which is not a bad choice, but only because his friend had one. This is an example of how people are ignorant and are brainwashed by other people's b**l sh*t such as edrod's story about the strings at GC.

I used to just get a lot of compliments for my burnt apple Silo, especially after swapping the black guard for a white one. People would sometimes say it's the most beautiful strat they've seen, and then ask what kind of strat it is :p

A friend of mine knew from talk that EBMM were quality guitars. He has a lot of nice stuff like a Warrior Knight. But when he opened the case ("damn, that's a nice color") and started playing my newly acquired '93 cherryburst Silo with a floyd, he nearly sh*t himself. Best neck he ever played.

People know the brand here, know the quality, but in one way or another balls are so understated the players in the Netherlands seem to walk by. Hell, I did for the better part of 15 years of playing. But when people actually pick it up and feel the utter magic of a EBMM neck they can't believe it. I really could kick myself for not taking the time before. From plain ignorance I missed out on a couple of amazing axes like a first run JP6 at my local shop, instead always opting for the familiar guitars like high end Jem's... Not anymore, next one is set to be a JP6.

Sometime when I get my gunsmoke Silo Special out of it's case for gigs or jams, I'll get "OOOO... what's that?" or an "Oh neat!" By people in the know. If they don't notice it right away, they do after I play. :D Then I get the usual questions about pickups and stuff. It's nice to spread the love and fly the flag.

I've never gotten an odd look...more like envy. Right after I got my Natural Super Sport...I was jamming with some old friends of mine, and they were blown away by the tone of the humbucker, but they really took notice of the vintage trem. Now my friend at the time had a Washburn with a Floyd, and he could never...and I mean never keep that thing in tune. I always hated the way it sounded, and just to show him how rock solid the trem on my guitar was...I did some dives and some other whammy gymnastics just to demonstrate, and he was floored by the vintage trem...and my guitar pretty much stayed in tune.

I loved every second of it...and I thought...yeah...have fun with your "Burn". haha

Girls...

Dude! I totally understand. My girlfriend gave this "are you insane?!" look on her face when I told her that I was buying my first EBMM guitar, DD2 JP6. :D I have a Yamaha Pacifica guitar, and that's the one I've been using for a long time. She couldn't understand why I would ditch out so much money for a guitar if I already had one...

My JP6 should be coming in next Friday, and I'm really excited about it :D

where i live, there are no EBMMs to "walk by"... i had to travel some 60km to hilversum to see my first ebmm in person. from there on, the distance kept growing, to the point of buying them online to get what i want.

and everytime i talk about music man everyone gives me that "it's not a sh!tson or a bender" look. bumpkins...

The American Guitarstore in Enschede usually has a couple of good ones. At the moment a LE Luke, a blackburst BFR JP, a nice green Silo Special and two EVH's I think. Lusting for that BFR...
EDIT: also an Axis and a 20th Silo.

When I first got to the place I now call home, no one had ever seen an EBMM so I got alot of the what the hell is that looks and comments.

Now a good portion the A list club bands in my town are EBMM players.

But the oddest look had to come from JP himself at the Open House when he heard how many JP's Ernie had. He'll have to fill you in on that conversation.
