So talking to my wife last night, ok well bitching to my wife about wanting a new guitar, something quality and probably never being able to get one....

I got the green light to put some cash away and get rid of the junk I don't use to help fund a new guitar.

Today is the day I start saving and making plans for a JP6.

I got my JP6 used although it's in new condition for a great price. If you're strapped for cash, might want to look for a used instrument.

Getting rid of unsed stuff to fund stuff that will get alot of use is a good idea. Good luck!

Yeah a good way to continue to convince her would be find other ways to save money around the house... utilities or groceries or something... then she can't change her mind and say no! Best of luck.

For sure! The used market is the way to go. I've owned three JPs in the past and bought them all new, but only have one left currently. If I were to buy another I would buy used...

Congrats, I’ve said it before that in my opinion the JP is the best EBMM guitar. If your not buying it new, I would suggest buying it from a forum member.

Nice...what color do you want?

Not really sure... Right now I love the Mystic Dream.
There is a local (for me) store that I would like to buy from. I spoke to them about a year ago, and I think they take guitars on consignment, so I could try and drop off a guitar there and see if it sells out of their shop and have the money go towards a new one.

Hey Yabbo,

I can tell from my experience that you should better sell your old guitar(s) seperately via classifieds or ebay. Every time I tried to combine selling an old guitar to the shop where I wanted to buy my new one, I would have gotten a bad price for my old one. You should better keep that seperated, but that's just my opinion.

As for the colour, mystic dream is an awesome paint job, I have a JP7 in that colour, good choice! :)

Greetings!
Felix

I also had quite a long conversation with my wife when I was planning to get JP6, but after selling one Tele, one 5-string bass and explaining why I needed to "upgrade" my current OLP after 20+ years of playing I was finally "allowed" to order JP6 (Pearl Redburst with piezo) this July. Expecting it to arrive in November, can't wait to have it!

I think i am really concerned with the shipping of the guitar that i would sell (or two), i dont have a hard case for them....and would hate to see that it was damaged in shipping...
I figure I will see what the shop can offer me.

Thanks...The shop I am going to after work had one when I went in June. I played a few different MM guitars that day. The Axis and the JP were the best feeling to me. I love the look of the Axis, and I like that I could install a D-Tuna for drop D songs; but the JP just blew me away. I picked up that guitar and was like...crap this feels really good...and they put the kitchen sink in it as far as all of the features.

I don't expect to walk out with a guitar tonight, I need to see what I am in for. But after tonight I will know about their policies for consignment, layaway, how much wiggle room on the price there is etc. When I was in there in June I told the guy I wouldn't be back in his store until I knew I was getting closer to making a purchase. At least now I can talk to the owner and not just blow smoke ________.
