Hello y'all,

This is now my bass:

TSR51.jpg

Came from Scott "Armybass" Cutrer who sold it to my nephew who then sold it to me. I bought a tort guard from Guitar Parts Resource and, aside from there being construction issues with the guard, I just don't like tort on a translucent finish. To me tort looks better on an opaque finish.

I'm considering white perloid and getting it directly from EB. I would like opinions, and pictures, regarding the combinations below of hardware and pickup covers:

1. White perloid with a black pickup cover, black screws and black knobs?

2. White perloid with a black pickup cover, chrome screws and chrome knobs?

3. White perloid with a white pickup cover, black screws and black knobs?

4. White perloid with a white pickup cover, chrome screws and chrome knobs?

That abalone does go with the Trans Blue, but mine is Trans Teal and the blue/green combo will look weird, IMO.

Nope, it's Trans Teal...belongs to BluesBassPlayer. Maybe it's the light or maybe there have been some variances in Trans Teal over the years.

I think abalone will definitely work with the trans teal... abalone has a surprising amount of green in it and with you having an SR5, I think the shape along with the colour would work really well.

Plus abalone looks amazing with a rosewood neck!

I vote for #4 - White perloid with a white pickup cover, chrome screws and chrome knobs. I really love how green basses look with perloid pickguard! So GLAMOUR!

Wow! They both look great - the white perloid/white pup/chrome knobs as well as the abalone. You can't go wrong with either. Personally, I'd probably go abalone with the rosewood neck but I love the white perloid with maple neck.

White pearloid is a classic look.

+1

I got a natural with a white pearloid pg with chrome knobs, white selector switch head (all ordered from EB at the time of ordering the bass from the distributor) and black screws (the originals). Kept the black pic-up cover though. I'll try and post a pic later.

I think it looks good, making the bass look a lot brighter. I reckon it would on a trans teal also.

PS congratulations on a great bass.

I wish EB would offer a choice of black or white pup cover when ordering a white p/g. That big black pup contrasting the lighter p/g is THAT signature MM look.

In contrast, a white pup cover would look badass with a darker p/g with a bass finished in white. :)
