:( too bad but it was really too good to be true. Hope Island boy can get his money back. In my Opinion there is no reason, it would be easier on CG to support this loss.

On the over hand EBMM recovered a stolen guitar which is good ;)

GC didn't screw up the story, and took all of the correct steps in making sure it wasn't stolen. However, unfortunately, this is infact the guitar that was stolen from us on 07/09/09 at the Cleveland stop of this years Warped Tour. The young kid that stole the guitar lied to GC about how it was obtained. I've spoken to the store in detail they are fully cooperating and feel very bad about the situation. They have a valid ID and all of the proper contact information on hand. I have contact IslandBoy directly and filled him in on whats going on as well.

Wow, I feel really ****ty about this whole situation:(. What's going to happen to the guitar? and is there a chance for Islanddboy to actually get it/buy it?

Thanks
Slav

Well that explains the missing case and coa. So it was a grab and run at the warped tour? Can't wait to hear if he gets busted.

I never had a doubt EBMM would handle this in the best way possible. On one hand, it sucks that IslandBoy has to go through this trouble. On the other hand, EBMM is a step closer to nabbing the a**hole who stole the guitar in the first place.

Let's hope justice is served.

Well hell, knew it was too good to be true, had to be a catch somewhere, thieves suck and hope he spends alot of time in a cell from hell.

slav dont feel bad, in a round about way you helped catch a criminal, if you had not posted this on the forum none of this mystery would have unraveled.

Sucks for islandboy though but i would not want a stolen piece.

I hadn't thought of it that way, but you're right. Thanks for helping nab a criminal, Slav!

nobody should feel bad here. Except for the young man that stole the guitar. We are going to do our best to make sure nobody gets shafted. In the last nine years on warped tour this has happened once. Which is FAR outweighed by the amount of joy you see in kids eyes when they get to sit down and play a great quality instrument.

Thanks guys! That actually makes me feel better about this whole bizarre thing. I still feel bad for IslandBoy though... I guess that in the end it could have been an uglier situation for him down the road. I wonder what would have happened if I didn't ask Nate at GC about the guitars' story and if I didn't post that Van Warped Tour story here.

There should be an on-line database for stolen gear that any store can just log into and check before they take in instruments...

All the best,
Slav:eek:

Slav, this is great that a stolen guitar is being recovered.

I have no doubt that EBMM and/or GC will handle everything with class.

Being the eternal optimist, Its GREAT that this stolen piece was recovered!! Im not going to lie and say I am not hugely disappointed. However, as Fing says, I dont want any part of stolen goods, no matter how great the deal, and I am very happy to do the right thing. Anything that I can do to help BP, Kevin, and crew put this to rest, I will happily do.
When the time is right, the next (legit) awesome deal will show up ........

Slav, you did good!!! Not in the way we initially thought, however in a much better way, in terms of Karma .........

Slav, don't feel bad... it could have been any of us. I was thinking about posting about the guitar the same day you posted it. You could have bought it or I could have bought it and on and on... The point is there was no way for any of us to know it was stolen and eventually whoever purchased it would have posted pics on the forum and prob the serial number get its build date. Either way, at some point EB would have eventually identified it as the missing 25th and the same process that is going on now would be going on then. However, at that point the Thief would be a little farther gone and maybe even uncatchable. Yeah, it sucks for Island boy, we all feel for him, but CS has said they are going to handle this in the best way possible and I have a feeling it may just work out to his advantage in the end. So Slav, don't feel bad you were just trying to help... how could you have known?

Yep - the one giant positive thing to come out of this is catching the POS thief. Thieves SUCK. I'm grateful I live in a state with castle laws that offer some measure of protection for homeowners in cases where deadly force is used to protect family and property.

OK but we are obviously going to do the popular thing..but lets make sure we examine this thing......Who is the victim? It isnt Guitar Center, or Island BOy....It's us.....We had stolen a perfectly good guitar and then it was damaged and basically pawned to GC.

Iland boy dont worry youll be ok...but you are lucky its me because otherwise you would be out the money.

It sucks that I have to get one guitar sotolen and then have to sell another below cost.....
