Im digging white basses recently and am looking at some, it just seems I always see stingray 5s in these sweet bright white colors and I see alot of stingrays in a semi offwhite. Im not talking about butter cream and I have seen this in person.

Actually here is a GREAT comparison
White pictures by EBMMColour - Photobucket

anybody else notice the difference? I much prefer the bright white.

Yea, I noticed the "pearl white before" and I know you say they look like normal white in different lighting, but I have seen this too many times, often the stingrays look a little off and the stingray 5s always look alpine bright white.

A new white one will be white, a warm but bright white. However, white is one of the colours that really ages and gets darker with time, depending on the conditions the instrument is kept in.

BTW, I'd say that StingRay in your gallery is actually a LTD 2005 and therefore buttercream.

Here is my Sterling 5 , in White. I also changed the Chrome hardware to all Black... I get alot of compliments on this bass. Only thing that would make it better, is to have an "Ebony" fretboard! Hopefully BP, will make this an option on all MM in the future............! Gotta say I love this bass, though.

Beautiful! Thanks for sharing. w/o the matching headstock, it'd be perfect.

My SR5 is alpine-iPod-ConverseOptic white. Next to a white shirt, it looks a little cream-induced, since it's about 13 years old. Torted out, for the record. Pic tomorrow... I'm beat right now.
Btw, white is a nice refresher after playing a burst instrument... like right after strapping it on, it's like having a tic tac after a smoke... something like that.

I bought mmbassplayer's white bongo recently and the difference between the neck and body colors is a reality and probably killed white as an option for future Bongos. You can't tell by these pics but the headstock is a satiny bright white that has no clearcoat and the body is a glossy white that has creamed slightly due to the clearcoat, the body is a lot creamier looking in person than these pics show. It's still a cool looking bass even though this one is a little naked right now. It's interesting to note that Rickenbacker also discontinued white around 1999 as they were having problems too.

How about a white Bongo with a black neck and black tuners/bridge, matching white headstock. That would look sharp. :)

I dream of a white SR5 with pearl white pickguard and a blank plank fretless neck. Oh mama!
