Thanks Busterkilrain! I'm going to put up some more soon. This Stingray will definitely get a video review as soon as I get my grubby little hands on it. :D

I barely ever post on this side, but that is a damn fine specimen if I must say so myself. That color with the clear guard is killer.

Original case?

Here she is! These are not the greatest pictures. I mostly took them to ask - is there any chance this is the original case? There are no markings on the case but it fits like a glove. Hopefully you can see that the lower horn fits perfectly. Keep in mind I believe this is a 1983.

Needs some TLC and a new set of strings. The frets have that patina look at the moment. They're a bit green! Plays great though it will need a fret leveling at some point. There are one or two high frets in the upper register. The G string needs a mute but I'll probably just replace them all as they are a bit dried out. Weight is 9lbs 8oz. The weight surprised me. I thought it was lighter than my Bongo but the Bongo is a can of beer lighter. It has a nice balance, that's for sure. As I stated earlier, the neck is awesome. Funny thing is, it's REALLY close to my Bongo's neck. So there you go - want that early Stingray neck? Buy a Bongo! The electronics are WAY hot in this beast. Hotter than the Bongo's. I really have to learn to work with these dynamics. Serial # is B022195.

This is my first bass with a maple board since my Peavey Patriot that was stolen long ago. Any body care to speculate on the body wood?

Funny you mention that! After playing my 25th and and my '88 'Ray next to each other I thought I should suggest the Bongo profile for the Vintage StingRay series...

Congratulations on a really nice player!

Congratulations on a really nice player!

I am going to try and borrow some calipers from my boss and make measurements.
