I asked BP about having a body one color and headstock another. He (rightly) laughed. I understand from a business standpoint that would be inconceivable. But, with light colored bodys (silver, white and more) There needs to be one more option with rosewood necks. I don't want a light bodied guitar with a dark neck and light (matching) or natty headstock. all I'm asking for is basic black. I wanted to order a new LUKE in pearl white last week. I don't want a white HS, or a natty. just something DARK. I said I would wait whatever time it would take; or even pay more.
I realize I'm whining, but then...that's what I do.

So get a White and a Black Luke, change the necks...and see if you can sell the other one :D

Or get a used SUB1 in White and order a SSH PG from Chandler to fill with the EMG Luke set ;)

...or get spanked by BP *lol*

"Stop whining!!!" (Arnold Schwarzenegger voice) hehehe
Black headstock sounds cool...but matching is the way it is and thats that. Maybe one of these days on an LE like the Radience Red a while ago. Doesent make sense from the production stand point, based on the millions of options available already...but you know this already.

If you order a black Luke w/ matching headstock, and a white pearl Luke w/ natural headstock, you could easily swap the black headstock onto the white pearl body, put the natural onto the black body and then dump it overseas for a profit.

If the factory were to add a black headstock as an option on just white, white pearl, and Sterling Silver, they would create 49 more options.

To me that doesn't seem practical if only one or two are ordered that way every 3-5 years.

That's what I suggested....just sounds so much more serious when you tell the kids, Pete ;)

That's the whole point about it. Some 20 years ago, I had a guitar luthier just around the corner and one of his showroom axes was high gloss white with a satin black headstock. At some stage, he put that guitar away from the shop, because all those comments (like "man, the 80s are over, get rid of that punk") were seriously pi**ing him off. They're just not selling...

I feel if I order a pearl luke with matching or natty, it will feel like I'm not really getting what I want.

Cute idea of buying 2. except who except Michael Schenker fans would buy a black luke w/white headstock? THAT would look dorky:rolleyes:

No...Pete suggested to buy natty with the white. That goes well with a black Luke and would sell, especially in Europe :p

The big question is whether you want a pearl Luke with black headstock bad enough to actually buy two. Most likely you'll lose quite some money...doesn't sound like it'll actually be worth it...

Danny, if you ordered the white with a natural headstock it would look just fine swapped onto the black.

Weren't you at one point concerned about trying to cover up the 2007 LE inlay because you didn't want it there for a big performance? I remember the photos from the gig and the guitar looked fantastic, inlay and all, and you seemed to be having a great time. Sometimes we can all get ideas in our heads that we really want it a certain way, but then the guitar comes in and WHAM! we get along with it like a best friend, little quirks and all.

You could always try a piece of black vinyl that will cost you less than $1, then if you ever go to sell it you can simply remove the vinyl. That's cheaper than a painted headstock costs, and it's a lot cheaper than buying 2 guitars!

Make a friend with a paint booth, and have a natural head painted. It should cost you next to nothing, even for top quality paint.

For reference, painting a Silo20 body is going to cost me $125 for a nice nitro finish.

Buy a natty and have it painted. It is HUNDREDS of choices you are adding and it was not popular on the LE's.

If a tidal wave of interest of buyers with cash in their hands I would consider it....'

Please please try to understand that it is impossible to create the perfect guitar for everyone

well, the few bucks profit that he would make is still a big amount of money saved for the buyer overseas, so it's "win-win"
