Hi Knuckleheads,
this is Francesco from Italy. I work for Mogar, EBMM's Italian distributor. EBMM granted us the unique chance to host a Meet & Greet with John Petrucci!!! Yesterday DT tour hit Bologna, Italy, and we arranged the M&G @ Tomassone's guitar store during the afternoon. Dude, it was a bang! Seven hundred people attending the event. Can you figure it??? SEVEN!!! HUNDRED!!! PEOPLE!!! It really knocks me out!
The kids were so cool and, man, John is such a nice guy. They Q&Aed for fifty minutes and he talked extensively about his tone and his guitars, about the differences between the models, about his music and the rare privilege of playing with a great band such as DT. John spent the following two hours signing autographs and taking pictures. He smiled to and greeted EVERY SINGLE PERSON in the room. The shop guys gave away EB's T-shirt and posters and picks and catalogs — he even wanted a copy of MM's Italian catalog for himself!
The atmosphere was filled by DT's music while live footage of the band was playing on a huge screen!
Every attendee had lanyard with a numbered badge attached to it. At the end of the event, John drew a number from a box and a lucky guy went home with a full-optional Stealth Black JP signed by him. It is definitely worth mentioning that the winner, a guy from Rome, decided to offer the guitar through a charity auction on eBay... Well done! Keep your eyes open for the auction!
Here's the link to the first part of the M&G video. Stay tuned for new videos!!!
After the M&G, we went to the concert. Needless to say, the band sounded huge. John has such a wide palette of sounds. Towards the end of the show, he played a three-minute solo with a cherryburst BFR JP that has the best piezo sound I've ever heard in my whole life. Among his "regulars" for the show I spotted a blackburst, a stealth black and the infamous silverburst. Dudes, that one's a killer!
We hang out at the aftershow for a while. John was there with James and Jordan. Everything was SOOO cool. We thanked him again for coming and we left with the promise to meet him again next year!!!
We would like to thank John, his entourage, the guys at Tomassone's, and the EBMM team for granting us such a great opportunity!
Cheers,
Francesco
