OK so I have been finally playing the Fiesta Red Classic and all I can say is YA'LL AIN'T READY FOR THIS!! WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW! I put a set of locks on her and strapped her on and she feels like old shoes! I lost my '79 Ray in a Fire and have been on a quest to replace her but just could never find one that was quite there......This one NAILS IT!!!! Everything about her is just perfect! The weight is great the G is F A T and the tone is AMAZING! Instant Louis Johnson and Paul Spencer Denman at my fingertips! I have only had a chance to play her for a couple of hours and the wood is probably going to settle a bit because it is cold and rainy here so I have made a tweak to the truss rod but WOWOWOWOWOWOW! More than I ever expected in every way. The neck is just frikkin SICK! Anyone who orders one should definitely think about getting a Birdseye neck.... Unbelievable! The pics here do not do her justice at all. She is perhaps the most beautiful bass I have ever seen in my life! The 25th I had was incredible but this one is in a class by herself...

I CAN NOT RECOMMEND THESE ENOUGH!!!

Pics and a gig report to come...I have 3 gigs over the next 2 days so I will get a good chance to feel her out...

Thanks so much to BP and the rest of the people who made these possible and to the talented people who obviously put not only their considerable skills but also their love into this instrument! I am eternally grateful and I feel very blessed that this instrument found me! I am so terribly sorry that Robert was not able to keep her but I am a big believer in KARMA and I believe she was destined to find me and the right one will find you my brother!

Peace,

T

Oh yes I appreciate that, I wondered why back in the old days that post was positioned to hold down the G and D strings. Thanks

Just an observation, but the newer headstock appears slightly wider on the G side - note the logo relative to the strings and the positioning of the G peg. It is not a straight run from the peg to the nut on the old one and the post straightens the string. Also, access to the truss rod is from the headstock and if the post were centered like the new one, it might impede the wrench necessary to adjust the rod. But this is just based on the photo.

Truss adjustment is actually the more modern truss rod thank God!

Thanks for that, T. I'm glad you're so thrilled with it, and not at all surprised. Makes me feel a little better about having to let it go. It worked out well, and I'll be back. Play 'er in good health!

I am really happy that you feel that way! I am about to go nuts to get her on stage! It is Caamy weekend here in Myrtle beach and we are closing a multi bill show tonight so I have about another 90 minutes or so to go and the wait is killing me...
..more to come...

Peace,

You know, that last line really tugged at the hold heart strings. I'm so glad you got it, because that is so deserving right there.

You gotta post some pics up of that thing!

they are really sweet

Man what an understatement! I don't think anyone can even fathom how great these are until they start getting out there...You guys really outdid yourselves with these!

We played a 2.5 hour show straight through with no break at a Landmark Club in Myrtle Beach after a local favorite band opened for 2 hours. The other band was really good and used our PA. When they did the change out to our backline the other bass player came up to me and said woooo a Ray....A Fiesta Ray! When we stared I played my Ice Blue SR5 for the first 5 songs and then switched to the Fiesta Red Classic and the guy came back (along with the rest of the band and quite a few people who follow us over the next couple of hours) and told me how great the bass sounded...

All the guys in the band give me a hard time because every week I am bringing in a new bass of some kind...Literally....After about 20 seconds after the switch to the Classic the keyboard player and the drummer both were grinning like possums eating briars (its a southern thing...think about it) and at the end of the first song the guitar player turned around and gave me a high 5...(He talked about my tone most of the 90 minute ride home) Once I made the switch I could not even pick up the 5...As great as it is (and it is great) it did not even come close to the Classic...

When we finished our show my sound guy came up to me and hugged me and told me if I did not keep this bass he was going to kick my as$! He said it was not only he best sounding bass I have ever brought out, but it was the best sounding bass he has ever heard...:D He is not the typical sound guy, he is very good at what he does and I pay attention to what he thinks...He told me that all I need to do is get another one just like it with a Rosewood board and put flats on it and call it a day....:D

I could not possibly agree more....

Thanks to you guys again for making her for me, I can't tell you how much fun I had playing tonight! The tone I had coming from my amp was pure sex! The tone coming from the big PA was simply amazing and when we did the band intros guess who got the most whistles and applause....:D

I am pretty sure it was the bass...

Peace,

T

So, you guys found a left over bag of pre-EB Magic Tone Fairy Dust in a corner?

Seriously: What's the technical and tonal differences between a stock 2-band as it can be ordered any day and a Classic Series?
