Hey no need to buy extra ...but I like the thought! I plan on service and innovating through this mess or die trying

Nice philosophy and I really trust it will work.

In the meantime I'm planning to buy again (when you launch the Classic Rays) :D

Funny thing about these recessions is they do come and go - last big one I remember in UK was late 80s early 90s - by mid 90s I've heard that dealers were selling record numbers of StingRays here - at least that's what one or two have said to me - and I hope things improve soon BP.

I don't think that all kids are doing Guitar Hero and Rock Band instead of music - they might be doing it as well, but there are lots of kids into playing music - I think their daddies are less inclined to buy them guitars whilst the economy is under pressure - they're even less inclined to upgrade them to a decent instrument at say, 21 in the current climate - hopefully the economic climate will change soon and that will ease things up. Microsoft can be accused of lots of things, but did the advent of computer based golf kill the game - it doesn't appear to have from where I am.

On the attention span thing, this is something that has infuriated the hell out of me with my kids (who are now 25 and 20) and their friends while they have been growing up - when I was a kid if you wanted to keep replaying a guitar solo you had to get up and move the stylus back, and probably scratch the record while doing it - so you didn't do it all that much...........I went through several years when my kids specialised in listening to little bits of tracks on CDs - basically because at the touch of a button without moving from their chair, they could just listen to the bits they liked - they don't do it so much any more probably because they see the benefit of listening to the whole thing. But technology does encourage people to do things in different ways and kids have got an ever increasing array of goodies at their disposal. But a lot of kids here still want to be Kasabian or Maroon 5 or Arctic Monkeys etc etc etc - and a lot are doing live music still. There are quite a lot of late teens early twenties players/singers turning up at jam sessions for instance and also playing in live bands.

I just thought of something that should end this thread; although, it could light another fire under it. At any given time in history, the youngest generation has always perplexed the living generations that came before it.

50's: "Just look at those greasers"
60's: "Just look at those hippies"
70's: "Just look at those punks"
80's: "Just look at those wasteoids"
90's: "Just look at those grungers"
00's: "Just look at those short attention spans"

We always forget we were just as bad as the kids we're complaining about. The Who said "The Kids are Alright". Okay- I'm done.

G's Economics for Dummies, Chapter One, Taking Responsibility!

Entrepreneur=
Hey no need to buy extra ...but I like the thought! I plan on service and innovating through this mess or die trying

Corporate Head= "Hey if you don't like what I'm doing, I'll take my multi-million dollar severance package and you can get someone else to fix this mess (I got you into)"! These are the same people who closed their local plants, moved their manufacturing and Customer Service to a third world country, and threatened their local government to move their headquarters to another state unless they get tax and utility breaks...this is also the same person that deposited those millions in a tax sheltered account in the Bahamas and moved to his estate in France for, what else..."Tax Purposes".

I want to spend my money with............

G's Economics for Dummies, Chapter Two, Is there a market for my Product/Service?

Example; Music Man and Ernie Ball Bass String Mutes.

So...how many muted bridge owners out there that would buy replacement mutes? Hmmm, we have the source so where's the price break on String Mutes, how much to package, should we have one with just the mutes/springs and another with the screws included? What's a good selling price?
Formula: Sell Price - cost = Profit
OK BP, you're not gonna to get a villa in France, but I'll bet you a case of Webbers Horseradish Mustard you'll make enough to at least help pay someones salary next year. I'll even predict that you can sell 2500 (I want 2 so that's 2498) Mute replacements and 400 Mute and Screw packs.

G's Economics for Dummies, Chapter Four, Selling my Product/Servce.

Soft sell: See Chapter Two.
Hard Sell:
1. Don't make me come out there young man!
2. I dare you! I double dog dare you! I TRIPLE DOG DARE YOU to package and sell replacement mutes!!!

Just keep doin what your doin BP, you'll be fine. Now...the Music Store is open and (as I said before a few posts back) I'm going to pick up a new set of (Ernie Ball) flats for my bass and I think a pack or two (also Ernie Ball) for my guitars.
