Hello All,

I'm a longtime lurker and first-time poster. I'm giving serious consideration to getting an AL with MM90s and am curious about the 2 and 4 positions on the 5-way. Can anyone give me an idea as to how they compare to the traditional single coil pickup sounds in those two positions? I'm really interested in what the difference might be as I'm very inexperienced with these types of pickups, but love the way they sound in the bridge and neck positions.

Thanks,
D

I'm LA (Los Angeles, not Louisiana). I've been to a handful of dealers, but none seem to have an Al with the MM90s.

A video would be SWEET if you could post it. Thanks so much to all of you for the quick responses!

Yes, definitely check out Rob's videos...and then go buy an AL, it's such a brilliant guitar and the MM90's offer any sound one could want from this type of guitar...it really is a no-brainer! :D

You won't be disappointed by MM90s. I love my AL. And like Rob said, 2 and 4 do the same as regular S pickups.

Here i am! The in between positions sound exactly like a strat, really glassy and twangy. I might have a video somewhere demoing the tones, i'll try and find it.

having owned a SSS AL I went out and got an MM90 AL. I was really surprised by positions 2 & 4 as they still retain the clarity and have the classic cluck/quack.

Just be aware that the MM90's take up more "real estate" on the guitar body.
