And where did this Blue Dawn come from, dear?

That weird little Swedish dude who comes on here sometimes lent it to me :D It's going back in a couple of weeks though so I need to get in some quality time.

I ADORE IT, but am still collecting my other thoughts :)

And you'd have made a very good selection, too. I've been playing that one quite a bit lately. Here's the problem (and it's a GOOD problem to have). Each one of them has value to me beyond the obvious appearances.

The Dargie Delight II HS is the only DD2 I have. Can't be replaced, at least not without great wailing and gnashing of teeth.

The Black Sapphire 5 HH was my very first Bongo from way back in November of 2003. It started all my subsequent problems.

The Red 5 H was one Dargie talked me into when I was thinking about something else entirely, and it's light and resonant and just KILLS on stage. I suspect Dargie picked this one out for me - and the back is also covered in interesting signatures.

The Blue Dawn 5 HH is, of course, a limited edition.

The Flaming Biff Bongo (4 HH with the flames) was a present from Sterling. I let people touch it, but I watch them carefully when they do.

The Big Poppa Bongo (4H) was also a present from Sterling and was his go-to bass for a few years. (Unsurprisingly, it's also Chuck Rainey's favorite of all my basses.) This one's also a gig-monster when I feel like playing a four banger.

And the Dargie Delight 5H which came from my good friend Jason (bassmonkeee) and is also the only original Dargie I own.

So maybe except for the Blue Dawn, which is kind of a duplicate of the Black Sapphire, they're all keepers for some very sentimental reasons.

Most of the old guys know these stories, but I do like telling it and some of the n00bs prolly don't know the history.

Cheers, babies.

Jack
