Don't get us started on the whole HDMI-cable thing. 0's and 1's going up a cable. Either the code comes across or it doesn't. People claiming their 250 euro Monster gives them higher contrast and better color via HDMI just cracks me up.

I'm a cable geek, always have been.

After years of trials I've settle on the following..

Sil Special to 'board = Solid Cables ( fantastic tone and doesn't coil up )
'board to amp = Van Den Hul ( from Lava cable, expensive but incredible, way too stiff for guitar use though )

I own and have used almost everything.

The one High end I don't like for guitar is the newest Vovox Sonorous.
Works great to feed my monitor but it's way to clear for my guitar :D

I always just buy raw Mogami cable and a few Neutrik jacks from Redco and go to town with the soldering iron.

I'm a high-end cable skeptic. I suppose I could tell the difference if I were to try different ones but wonder if the "improvement" is worth the big bucks those things can cost.

I also think about my favorite recorded and live electric guitar tones and don't see very many high-end cables in those setups.

Brian May comes to mind: "I'll take 'em extra curly please"

Right now i'm using a combo of a monster rock from overdrive to amp,and a PRS (made by van damme) from guitar to pedal.I used to use two monster rocks, but it sorta felt like i was using an extension cord...i kept stepping on it and it would get twisted around my feet and was just a pain in the a**.The monster i had been using from the guitar to pedal failed after about a month...the dealer replaced it and it now resides in my spares bag.So far....4 months and 24 gigs later the van damme is still kickin'.It doesn't get tangled and it's a lot lighter than the monster.Having said that,i've used various cables over the years and found that live on stage there's just not that much of a difference in sound as long as you use a decent quality cable. There seems to be a more noticable difference in the studio...but i'm not sure there's enough to justify paying the extra $$$$ in most cases.

I use Mogami Gold from instrument to Pedal Board, George L's for my pedal board, and a pedal snake from my board to my amp.

I use a lot of true bypass and I am extremely meticulous about my signal, so I always use the clearest, and most transparent cables possible.

I'm one of the few nutjobs who work my gear and eletronics around my cables.

Crazy, I know.

I use Monster Rock cables and I seem to be the only one who likes them:eek: Never had any problems with the plugs and they do sound better using the high output pups on the Luke.

at one forum me and Beej hang at, they go into cable directionality. seriously, I am not kidding - the differences between which end goes in the guitar and which end goes in the amp.
Man, some of those guys are over the top. Need to keep their shirts on.

Ya, it's easy to get caught up in all the nonsense these days. Remember the equipment used to get your favourite guitar tones from back in the day ... none of the crap we argue about today. Frankly we've got too much choice. Less time shopping ... more time playing :)

You are not alone my friend......I use them too. I use George L's for pedals and just like the tone of the Monster Rock better than most other cables I've used.

My Monster Rock just sliced with way too much high end, the whole thing sounds too boxy with no lows cutting through enough. Made my $5000 amp rig sounds like ****.
Just my opinion though, tone is a subjective matter.

As long as a cable doesn't get interference and it is fairly hefty and rugged then I am happy.

Seems like all the stereo cords are noisy compared to the mono cords in all brands that I have tried. They work and all but create a lot of noise when moving around while playing..

For my pedal board, I make my own, but Guitar-Board, Board-Amp, I use some Cornish ones. They've got a really rugged braid on them and will probably outlive me!!

Im a planet Waves cable guy myself. My store sells Lava but I cant see spending that much compared to a Planet Waves or any other good quality cable. They both have lifetime warranties so if it dies bring it back bam new one right there. They sond good enough for me but thats me.

I'm partial to Planet Waves cables. They're affordable and good quality.

I will not buy Monster products due to their predatory legal practices.
