Tonal differences between all RW neck and Ebony boarded neck?

me! an Ebony fretboard with maple neck is going to be the antithesis of an all rosewood neck pretty much, I would compare it as a clearer brighter sound with a bell like tone to a warm growl with screaming harmonics and sustain galore.there was another thread made today along the same lines, go check it out

i can hear the diff between maple/ebony and rosewood. between maple and ebony probably not. it's got alot to do with string response, what happens just after u pick a note.

This is about as close to what people who can 'hear the difference' would say.

However, everyone hears differently, and though there may be a change in frequency and overall tone, you may not notice it.

We are talking about one of the warmest tone woods out there against the very brightest, of course there is going to be a difference, and to me it is more then suddle, I mean I do have both so my opinion might have a little validity haha

as you see ebony is a few notches up from maple so I dont think im crazy saying I can tell the difference between my all maple Silo neck and my DDII; also my Rosewood ASS by far had more growl than any guitar Ive ever played

I hear the difference between rosewood and maple. not so much between maple and ebony but I can feel it. Both have a fast attack, but ebony is the quickest. Maple responds with a slightly rounder attack to my ears, ebony being a tad brighter.

Talking 'bout feel: nothing beats an all rosewood neck. The whole damn thing seems to resonate in your hands, lovely feeling. Have to get me one of those...

well my dad has perfect pitch and has been teaching guitar for 25 years so I guess some of that rubbed off on me, I hope im not sounding like a snob and I by no means have perfect pitch but I have noticed my ear progressing and noticing things i never have before....I mean Eric Johnson can tell the difference from the type of metal in cable wiring and the tips so this is pretty basic stuff

I don't have 2 exact guitars with different fretboard/neck materials to compare. The differences I hear between my rosewood neck JP6 and DD2 BFR aren't so crazy I couldn't pass one off as the other in a blind test. I can hear a difference, but I attribute that to the different pickups. The rosewood has D-Sonic/Custom where the DD2 has Crunch Lab/LiquiFire.

The FEEL is completely different on them, but I attribute this to the amazing rosewood smoothness vs. the painted neck on the BFR.
