Tragic Accident Cracked Guitar's Neck !

I've always wondered if the rear mount floyd nuts would weaken the neck around that area actually.

I've been there, I feel your pain. I know it's hard, but try not to stress it John. It is repairable.

I had a massive break on my old luke (with floyd) in exactly the same place... Some surgery and a lot of love, and now... You would never even know!!!

She will rise again

To be fair, maple is strong.
Even with the floyd locking nut drilled in position, something fairly dramatic has to occur for a breakage...
Haha very dramatic in my case but that is another story for another day

Honestly, if that is occuring on a maple neck guitar, it would blow you mind seeing the damage with the same force applied to a mahogany neck. I think it safe to say some serious force/impact has been applied in all of these situations..

You are right! That is extremely painful to watch. Time for a new neck. I have never heard a glued one sound quite the same. Sorry!

Ye I think personally if the neck was repaired I would always have some doubts in my mind (even if its perfectly stable) that something still might happen or i would just not feel the same or think it felt or sounded the same.

Guitarists are really funny that way...

First thing a good luthier will tell you - it will never break in the same place again. The glue is actually stronger than the wood.

I, much like John, had a strong attachment to the guitar/neck and chose to repair over replace and I couldn't be happier!!
Mojo and tone galore, so don't stress John.
