Are there any plans for an eventual Les Paul-esque EBMM model?

You know, strings through, fixed bridge, humbuckers, mega sustain, etc... Models right now seem to be strat-like (Silo), shred/rock (Petrucci, Luke, Axis) and country like the AL. There doesn't seem to be any direct substitute for the LP style.

you're right, they only make models they've specialised in. and i don't think they will be attempting a direct attack at the les paul model any time soon. i could be wrong, but the investment involved in making guitars which are built so differently is too great to successfully recoup in an economy like today's.

If I were you I would give a try to the HH AL with its mahogany body and rosewood neck you should be very Gibson like in the look

now if you really want a Gibson les Paul get one ;)

LPs aren't strings-thru.

More important factors would be body wood, setneck, and scale length.

given those design challenges, my best guess would be a "not anytime soon"

They have prototyped this kind of thing for JP. So, I don't think it's really a problem for them to do it. Do they want to? That's the question.

last night I sat around and player a bunch of my guitars. The list included: a Gibson LP Standard, a 20th Silo MM & a 25th Anniv MM among a few others

At the end of the day the LP-like sounds I wanted (please note this is personal preference) were in the 25th Anniv MM which is going into standard production next year as the Reflex.

So for my $ - its all about the 25th annvi (Reflex). Of course its not an LP cuz it's an MM... but it gives me what I want from an LP and more (more than 3 pup positions, series/parallel switch etc). I really cant say enough good things about this guitar. it's really that good

Your mileage may vary

It's called a 25th dude, although the 25th is better due to the chambered body!- - Try one today.

I was asking because well, I do have a JPM but for a different tonal palette I wanted something more LP-like while sticking to the EBMM brand :)

One thing I hate about LP's is the shorter neck scale... the last frets are ornamental. But the sustain is amazing and I like the fact that it's a fixed bridge.

I'll join the chorus of people saying "If you want a Les Paul, get a Les Paul." that WAS my knee-jerk response.

For the double-humbucker thing, I'd say the Axis/ASS have it nailed for what they do.

However, I think an Axis with a carved maple top, mahogany body and a TOM bridge/string thru and 24.75" scale would be very cool.

Then again i think Peavey already made something like that... thought they had a stoptail. still 25.5 scale though.

I see no reason for EBMM to make a "Les Paul" style copy. Too many times over at "TGP" and "HC" you will hear the LP purists decry any type of derivative or copy as not the "real deal". Any LP has to follow the old formula exactly.

EBMM does not follow a formula IMO.

I could see making an AXIS body style in Mahogany, 1/8" maple top, mahogany bolt-on neck with rosewood in 25.5" scale and Dimarzio buckers. With choice of hardtail or vintage trem bridges.
