Congratulations, I love your new bass, it's gorgeous! True Gold ROCKS!

My new Bongo 5 single H is orange firemist with vintage white pearloid pickguard. Pics of it from The Perfect Bass' website made it appear to be QUITE orange. In real life it appears as more of a beautiful copper metallic.

Enjoy your new Bongo 5 single H; they are amazing basses! :D

Thanks. I am sure Orange Firemist is impressive in person. I had a rough time choosing a color based on photos displayed on my computer screen. I love how unique these colors are. Olive Gold was a huge temptation for me as well but went with True Gold to have a color that really stood out.

It really wouldn't matter what color the bass was as it sounds and plays so well but I am so fortunate to have been able to pick from such an amazing selection while they were available.

I ordered a bass around the same time you did (very shortly before the colours being discontinued) and had a tough time with picking a colour too. There was 27 selections for sterlings I think, which is pretty ridiculous. I went with orange firemist over true gold because... it seemed oranger? This stuff is way too difficult to tell on a computer screen, I figured I couldn't go wrong with either of them. Electric blue was another strong consideration.

Nice 2x15 Mesa cab rig.

Thanks. I have just recently put that setup together and am wondering why I didn't try the 15" route years ago. I think maybe I'm just tired of 10 inch speakers. The 15's sound so warm and full but there is still lots of sparkle with the horns. I can fit them both in my car too.

Are you saying that you're waiting for the arrival of a Sterling in orange firemist?

If so, you will love that color; I love my Bongo 5 single H in orange firemist. Like I posted earlier, in person it appears as a beautiful copper metallic. VERY NICE! :D

Yep, Sterling HH in orange firemist with white pearloid pick guard.
Last I heard it was shipping in early January and it's coming to Canada so I'm expecting it in 3 or 4 weeks.

Beautiful bass, man - good on you for it and enjoy!!
I have a 5 sting Desert Gold Bongo, which was a very similar color to True Gold and also discontinued... LOVE the color - I also have a tort guard on mine.

Can't help but noticing, however that your bass is a little...um...backwards? :D

Lefty's are in their right mind! haha

I have been spending time getting my hear wrapped around the Bongo over the holidays. Its a different beast then my SR5 but clearly from the same family. The 24 frets threw me off a little but I have never played a bass this playable before! The way the strings respond to fingers is a sheer delight. The tone is quite different then the SR5 and of course the pre amp is lot more powerful. Gotta get used to not having the volume knob cranked.

All in all, I am beyond pleased with my first Bongo. The fit and finish are superb, the color is just too cool for words and the tone is really full but has the Stingray vibe in spades. I really like the eq as well. The mid control is fabulous and can be used to make some pretty strong changes in tone but its all usable. I'm generally running the eq on the bass flat but there is a lot of variety there for a single pickup bass. I have no regrets at all over getting the single H.

I was snapping a few gear pics yesterday and realized that I managed to capture the true color of True Gold a little better. This has to be about the best color ever dreamed up!

The photos still make it look a lot more orange then it is. If it ever stops raining, I will try for some outdoor shots!

Yes this is a much better representation of what True Gold looks like in person. In fact it was these photos from The Perfect Bass that sold me on this color and pick guard combo.
