Hey guys, I'm thinking of taking the CL and LF out of my Dargie BFR JP6, and replacing them with the same pickups, BUT in a different color. I'm torn between black/white zebra coils, or black/creme zebra coils. Those are the two choices, so which do you guys think would look better in the Dargie II? Thanks.

Double creme - if it becomes available.
Otherwise I would go for black and creme.

Actually never thought of double creme, and they do have that. You guys really think that would look good? I think it might like smokin' with the Dargie finish.

Any way that anyone here can photoshop me a quick mockup of a BFR JP6 Dargie with Creme DiMarzio's? Then I can at least get an idea of what it will look like.

I'd love to see a mockup of a DD2 with crème pups. I imagine it would look pretty cool.

What about black/green?

I would personally keep the black ones in, but the black/creme would look pretty cool too. Black/green was a good suggestion as well. Creme/creme sounds interesting though, I'm interested to see what it looks like!

Btw Phil, I'm thinkin about changing the pickups in my JP, do you take your JPs to anyone to get the pups changed or do you do it yourself?

Yup, I take em' up to Bill who's the repair guy at the Oxford Valley GC. He does stellar work and really takes his time with the guitars. Plus he's a DT fanatic! :D

If you ever take your stuff up to him, tell him Phil with the JP's sent ya up. He'll know who you're talking about.

I have replaced my share of stock black EBMM humbuckers with black/creme. I like the contrast: if the body finish is dark, I like the look of something other than pure black. Having said that, on the DDs, I like the look of the stock black. If you must change, I agree with the black/creme suggestions.

With the older JP6s (Steve's Special-based bridge HB, at least the one I own), the stock OEM bridge pickup is slightly taller than Dimarzio's stock pickups. About 1/8" if I recall correctly. This means that either the replacement pickup will sit slightly lower or you or your tech will need to install some washers or spacers to achieve the same proximity to the strings. I don't know if that still applies to the newer D-Sonic or Crunchlab pickups.

If you are going to go that route, you might want to confirm with Dimarzio or EB customer service regarding the height.

I think double creme would be awesome, better than the creme/black combo inhmo.

Pretty sure black/green would make me vomit. Isn't that like fluorescent green?

I remember talking to one of the guys there and I told him I play a JP and he said he does work on a guy's JP guitars. We talked about DT for a bit as well. I'm assuming this is the same guy you're talking about lol. Thanks, hopefully sometime soon I'll be able to get them changed.

If you haven't been up there recently they have a Bahama Blue BFR and a Mark V head. I played them together the other day, best tone I've ever heard!
