more sad guitar related news (I got chips :( oh the humanity)

There was a mic not working, so in the hustle to find the cord, it got pulled, mic stand fell down and knocked the BFR down and.. gasp... two chips on the upper horn.

This guitar and I have definitely gotten some battle scars together.

So, my debate is... do I find a good luthier to repair the dings, or leave it because it's too expensive to fix two sunflower seed sized cracks in the clear coat?

And I know... I should put the guitar up after soundcheck.. but we were still soundchecking. (is that all one word? lol)

New Years Eve for me was kinda cursed... first I backed the trailer into a wooden post, then that. Hopefully that was a sign of a year gone bye, and not of things to come.

Last year was rough for lots of us, hopefully this year is the exact opposite!

I would leave the cracks alone, and not do any touch-up unless bare wood is showing. Even then I might not do anything to fix them. It sucks damaging your instrument, but each mark tells a story, and some even teach us a thing or two.

I know your joking Brad ,of course, but being a left handed guitarist for 20+ years and finding EBMM has shown my resilience to quitting and failure. There is always hope young padawans!

Reversing: My guide stepped out of the rear view mirror range and then gave the stop sign. LOL The trailer is tough... not even a scratch. The poor post... well, it's seen better days. lol

Not selling the guitar. Sorry. lol I love the thing...dents and all. Still undecided if I'll fix the dings (I will fix the neck dings someday, but that's a pretty big project I have to save for).

Drums: Harder to steal unless someone steals your trailer like they did to poor Kill Hannah in Philly. Those guys, and the 8 (or how ever many it was) other bands that played that venue and had their trucks stolen had a rough year.

As for 2010... I have a good feeling about playing the showcase at SXSW. Being invited is already a big deal even if nothing comes of it. Maybe that means we're doing something right.

So here's the new rule... 2010 is going to be an awesome year for all us knuckleheads!

Mesavox, if they don't interfere with your playing don't get them fixed. The only time I ever had a guitar refinished was when I got a hug dent right where I plant my pinky which made the guitar unplayable.

I feel your pain. After a gig about 6 months ago, I only had my guitars left to load. Unfortunately, one of the BFR cases was not latched all the way and my JP6 Bahama Blueburst hit the floor leaving a good ding in the upper horn. I thought I would get over it but still haven't.

I'll drink to that. The last few years have been rough going and actually playing my MM guitars have really helped me get through it! I am more looking forward to '010 (sorry Colbert ) than any other year in my adult life.
