Do EBMMs finish check easily?

I have a Charvel that I bought about 3 years ago and looked today and the finish had big ugly lines running right down the center of it. Do EBMMs do the same thing because I want to stop it before it starts if they do.

Some of my Axis' are over 10 years old. No finish cracks, marks, or cracks anywhere.

I have Balls going back to 13 years, and I bought most in the 90s. No finish issues whatsoever.

Is the clear coat not Polyurethane?
Would take a bomb to cause checking in that I think.

it holds up really well- unlike the old nitro finishes.
I've seen finish cracks on an EBMM, but they were caused by belt buckles (not the finish's fault).

The finish is bomb proof (almost...).

The finish is hard as nails. It takes a good amount of force to get through it, and the only cracks I've seen on these guitars is a stress crack at the neck pocket.

You can't blame the paint/company for finish issues. Humidity is the culprit. If you don't keep your guitar in the proper environment you can have all sorts of problems: paint, binding, frets, neck, etc.

I saw one BFR Petrucci with e big problem under the clear coat right above where the neck join the body on the front of the guitar. Looked like there's a steam underneath the clear coat... I still dont think I could tell it occurred there ...

I think all finishes are subject to under the clear coat "lines". Not the kind you can feel, but the kind under the clear coats, that show, usually only in certain lighting. I believe it's most prevalent on alder bodies. I've had a G&L, Fender and Silo Special do it. I think the big factor was the extremely dry and changeable temp climates of Nevada and Arizona. No blame, no foul, imo.

My Silhouette is from '92 (I think) and it does not have any finish cracks.

The finish on all of mine is pristine, though none of them are more than 2 years old...
