The heart of the watermelon is the journey, not the financial ending.

This is what a well-respected musician told me a long time ago: "Take your ego out of the product and put it back into the process where it belongs." It's almost always a struggle to actually DO it, and I fail often enough, but it's always better when I remember to do it.

Great blog, sir. I'm an old dog, and learning comes hard, but you make it fun.

you can subscribe to his blog with rss you know. makes it easier to follow. gonna sound like a fanboi but it's one of the few blogs that i subscribed too as it is entirely original and has a meaningful message.

on a side note, i freelance in my field of work and stopped working for my main client in late 2009 as i i felt i was loosing myself with the work asked of me there. Went back to smaller clients and more meaningful work and added photography as a sideline. it's a little more nerve racking for the budget but it's so much more fun. I mention this simply cause i can relate a little to this last blog entry.

thanks BP.

In surfing some think that the reward is on the beach on the podium. I think its the time in the tube

I love this company! BP, I hope someday I can add some value to EBMM beyond buying your product, and be a part of the process!

Of course we care, BP! Well, I can only speak for myself. Does that blog mean you're taking PMs again? :D

Insightful for those of us who maybe yearned for or even have the entrepenruial spirit, but channel it differently. That blog has wider application than one would think at first blush.

Thanks for it.

Great post.

It reminds me of the NPR program I was listening to yesterday where the guest talked about a company that did something unusual. For one fiscal quarter they allowed their employees to work on whatever project they wanted to with whomever they wanted to. The company ended up with way more innovative ideas than they normally would have.

BP when you talk about "moments" in your blog the first thing I thought of was the Bongo. What a terrific moment in MM history that may or may not make the money that others are scurrying to get. That bass came out of nowhere and nothing since then has turned my head as hard as that "moment".

BP- I wanted to send you a book for Christmas that I thought you could appreciate, but I didn't know how to get it to you without PM'ing you so I sent it to my sister. However, your blog post makes me think that somehow you've already read it, so I will share the info with everyone for my second installment of personal enrichment opportunity.

The book is Hope for the Flowers by Trina Paulus. The subtitle is "a tale--partly about life, partly about revolution and lots about hope for adults and others (including caterpillars who can read)". I've included the amazon.com link for anyone who is interested in the deadly accurate, fully illustrated version of your blog post. It is a classic (originally published in 1972- my sister's copy is a first edition) and it is a gripping tale, despite its simplicity. Hope ya'll can check it out (might even find it at your library).
