Well, my guess is there are a couple parallel-coil options in there. Maybe the push/pull tone pot is still there and they've done the 25th style wiring with 10 options. THAT would be sick!

Visually it's nice but, at least for me, there's no WOW OMFG GOD factor. It's nice still! I prefer the look of the 3 way switch though.

Looks aside, I'd really like to hear it and analyze how the chambering changes the tone.

well, too bad i already bought 3 JPs in under 6 months. i actually think it's a sleek looking badaxe! not too sure about the blade switch (which can easily be a 3 way folks) but everything else looks spot on, down to the finish.

For a tenth anniversary model....very underwhelming

WOW. It seems as though Big Poppa could have posted a picture of a tree log and everyone would have responded the same way with this crowd...lol. I understand that some would like it, but everyone slobbering over it?....or are people just afraid to post anything negative here?

My thoughts: I think the color is very nice and if the fingerboard is indeed made of ebony, then yeah...nice move on that. I'm not that into the black hardware though....kinda dresses it down for a tenth anniversary. And, as far as Petrucci with a chambered body....the two don't really seem to go together to me, for the type of music he plays. Sure, it'd work for him on a few applications, but generally speaking it is a bit odd for him. And, if I had to guess on the woods, I'd suspect that they have a mahogany block and a chambered basswood body like the 25th....but, maybe with a mahogany neck, can't tell by the pics...could be maple. Anyways, it seems very blah to me. No fancy top or anything.

And naturally, ....I am well aware that if this is what JP wanted...then that's what he got, because it is his guitar. I'm just not impressed with it for my taste.

And, as far as this goes.....

People are going to whine about it being different, but they forget it's what JP wants, not what we want.

No....if they are going to whine, it won't be because it is different, but because they DON'T like it. No one forgets that it is what JP wants. But, what YOU fail see to see, it is also about what the general public wants, because the whole intent is to SELL this to the general public.

As I said, if a lot of you like it, more power to ya. I'm just stating my honest opinion. Now, I can rest in knowing that I won't have to worry about getting one.

People aren't posting negative thoughts because this really isn't the place for that. Try not to get the thread locked please.

It isn't about negative thoughts....it's about your honest opinion. And, your worried that the thread will be locked over an honest opinion?

Do not attempt to censor me. Have a nice day. :)

Crimson, I understand a few of your points and where you're coming from, but certainly not the 'slobbering' one. There's quite a few people who have said they weren't into a few things (myself included). So as far as everyone slobbering over the guitar goes, I think you're sadly mistaken. Its very cool to have a sneak peek at a guitar before it comes out at the major show that is NAMM, and if you don't like it, thats fine. Nobody's yours or anyone else's opinion. If you don't like it, save up for something else you do like, its that simple.

Bingo. This is a preview. Not a call for opinions.

Like my momma always said, if you don't have something nice to say, well, you know ...

As for a business perspective on what sells, that has beat beaten to death. There's only one person here who gets to make that bet.

Why doesn't a chambered body fit JP? It's chambered, not hollow. Even if it were, JP does A LOT of Liefeson type sounds and a lot of those are hollow body guitars.

No it's not about what the general public wants. It's JP's signature that just so happens to be something that a lot of the general public will want just as it is. There are more people buying these things than you think.

You ASSume that if people like it they don't have an honest opinion?

My point? Why do you take this stuff so personally? If you want to state your opinion then fine... don't attack others as not having an honest opinion and suggest they are stupid for liking the thing just because it's not your cup o tea. The good thing is... there is still the regular BFR choice which I would choose for 90 plus % of my applications because I prefer 3 way switches, like rosewood better, and I'm a little guy who doesn't need my guitar to be any bigger. With that being said, I still really like the JPX and it is in my someday I really hope so list. I didn't comment on those little preferences here or there because they weren't relevant to the point of this thread.

And yes, this thread is clearly headed in VERY familiar direction and to a VERY predictable conclusion and I don't get why it's so hard for people to get something that is said everytime we get one of these previews.

This isn't like you... who peed in your Post Toasties? And the censor comment? You know full well you don't have free speech here, or any other forum where you are a GUEST.

I for one, don't exactly agree with the "this thread isn't for opinions" thing. If that was the case, wouldn't BP have posted the pics and locked the thread immediately if he didn't want to see what people thought of the new design? I think its fine to give your opinion, but not if you're a person who's going to come in here and derail the thread and bash other people's opinions just for the hell of it. If thats the case, the thread should just be locked and be done with.
