Well, I could have said JP's rig, but I want something different...not that I haven't answered "JP's rig" in the past when this question was asked.

I want an amp that comes in a small black box with no knobs on it but just a small microphone attached that I can describe any sound to, which it will then perfectly reproduce and store. The amp will clearly know exactly what I mean however vague my description of the desired tone.

It will also self-adjust to each different room you play it in so it sounds brilliant every gig - every rehearsal with no tweaking.

I then want a small implant in my brain linked to this box that will enable me to switch patches mid-gig by just thinking about the next sound I want. I will also operate the wah by mentally pressing the pedal back and fore. I will therefore need nothing underfoot on stage at all.

This amp will weigh about the same as a packet of cigs, and come with a large speaker cab that also weighs next to nothing and rather magically shrinks to the size of a shoebox at the end of every gig. Both amp and cab can then be packed into a small shoulder bag that I can sling on the back seat of my car.

My guitar will stay in tune perfectly throughout the whole gig, and the strings will stay minty-fresh for at least 6 months!

Oh and it will look like this...:D

Now these two are possible...

I dont really have a dream rig. I used to when I was younger but now I just have GAS. :)

I would love to have a Mark V and I could always use a few more cabs (ported 1x12, partial open back 2x12, etc.).

As far as pedals and effects, the only effect that "my sound" requires is a Delay. All other effects are used only when absolutely necessary for covers (like the wah on bulls on parade).

The rig that automatically self-adjusts to sound brilliant in any room you put it in.......how? Do tell?

You'd need an external reference microphone (flat throughout the audio spectrum), plugged into a black box.

You'd plug your guitar into your 'box of tricks amp' which would give you the sound you were after, then you'd feed that into the black box, prior to it going to your speakers. When you've got the guitar sound that you're after, set the black box to learn, play each string individually and then store it.

Then, when you go to your gig, set up all of the gear (Guitar > amp thing > black box > speakers) set the black box to 'analyse', play each string again, then set the black box to 'process'.

The black box analyses and compares what you've played with what is stored and then adjusts the frequencies accordingly.

Simple!
