JP7 help...assure me!

Hey guys,

So recently I have been having trouble with the Piezo, bridge and middle position of my JP. This funky noise as if there is another string really really loose next to all my strings that happens when i pluck harder than a normal pick stroke is starting to get on my nerves. I thought it was my amp and so i spent the day changing out each of my preamp tubes to see if they were the problem (per Mesa's suggestion) to no avail. I have also contacted EB customer service and have received an RA number to ship the guitar to them for repairs, which unfortunately for me, costs about 80-90 dollars simply due to my location. So, before I ship the guitar away and incur those costs, I have 4 pictures of the controls inside my JP. Would anyone be so kind as to compare these photos with your JP with piezo and let me know if everything "looks" similar? I understand that there's no way to tell for sure, but if things look weird, then that could be of help. Thanks, guys!

Is it a noisy spring?
Fret buzz, perhaps?

I'd recommend having a *local* repairman at least take a look at it, to see if he can rule things like that out. If he's unsure, I'd send it in.

its definitely none of those things. the sound doesnt reverberate like a spring would and id recognize fret buzz as what it is. it's much louder, and gets worse with more volume.

Would anyone be so kind as to compare these photos with your JP with piezo and let me know if everything "looks" similar? I understand that there's no way to tell for sure, but if things look weird, then that could be of help. Thanks, guys!

I have taken my Pet cover plate off and mine is exactly the same as yours. That wire is meant to touch the underside shielding of the cover plate.
Nothing looks untoward about the trem cavity either.

I'm not wishing to steal CS's thunder but I would like to see a close up of the bridge saddles?

Thanks for posting the other pictures
The saddles look ok from the picture. Make sure that neither of the E strings are fouling on the posts. Other than that it's back to EB under warranty, although judging from your signature, the JP7 is now outside the 12 month warranty period.
I'm afraid, a critical examination can't be done over the 'net and I would expect your dealer to help out with assessing the problem as I'm sure it can't be unique?
The first step in all this is to go through your dealer who should liaise with Customer Service. Let us know the outcome?

ok, so I was able to play the guitar through another friends amp alone and slaved into my cabinet. The sound was gone. It MUST be my mesa head then. That's good, because it's under warranty hehehehe. If I can make a recording of what the sound is, I'll post, but since it's no longer a MM issue, it won't be relevant.

Glad you we able to get it figured out and glad to see its not the Pet. I think too many times (not talking about you directly just a general reference to conversations I have had with people ) people cant believe the problem is thier high end amp.

I have owned 3 high end amps over the last few years and everyone of them had issues ( yes and one was a Mesa ) and all three are gone.
