I'm pretty damn stoked. Got this yesterday to replace my JCM 900 that crapped out on me at practice the other night. I didn't get much sleep last night and I can't wait to gig with it tonight. All I need now is a road case. I've been thinking about getting a Mesa/Boogie 4x12 as well but the Marshall cabinet seems to be working alright so far.

Now I have to start saving up for a new guitar. The only question is: do I get the JP or the Axis Super Sport first?

Is that the new invisible Mesa Boogie? :D

Congrats! The V's are awesome. I had one a while back, but then sold it to get the Axe Fx, then sold that to buy back my old IIC+ and couldn't be happier. The Mark Series stuff is where its at!

I thought about getting that one first. Actually, there is a used one at a GC here in Mystic Dream. Seems like it might be an older one because it has a different bridge pickup and the small fretboard inlays. I almost pulled the trigger on that one the day my amp crapped out.

The illustrious Mark V! I couldn't be happier with mine. Enjoy that beast.

BTW, try channel 2 in Crunch mode with the gain all the way up, everything else half way except the volume and bass, put them at about 10:00. Then put a Tube Screamer in front of it.

Ya, I totally heart channel two as well. I mean even channel one can give you a quasi plexi sound if dialed up right. I really think that this is a really sweet amp. I've had two mark IV's in the past and I couldn't get this many usable sounds out of 'em. Although I must admit that I probably didn't give 'em a fair try. It was all about the lead channel then.

Nice rig. As for the guitar, well you got a tough decision to make. You will get a 50/50 on the JP vs Axis. I’m due for a new one and I still don’t know which one to get. :D

Nice amp, and nice Sub 1 ( the tone monster) Your Subbie can easily be made into a Silo Special. But getting an Axis Super Sport is what you should do man. IMHO.

Ouch...that decision is making my brain hurt...lol. I mean I love the tone of both guitars, but I really favor the neck on the JP. Is it me or do Musicmans and Mesas go together like Les Pauls and Marshalls???

They go together BETTER than LPs and Marshalls.

Congrats on a beast of an amp! Get the Mesa 4x12 to go with it, it sounds HUGE and tight! Get the JP6 as well, they are made for each other!:)

Thanks for all the well wishes guys. I wanted to say so yesterday but had to get crack-a-lackin' to my gig. When I started loading my gear and pulled the cover off of the head I heard a few "whoa's". Now, I don't buy gear for the "whoa" factor, but it sure felt nice.

JamminJim- how hard is it to make the SUB1 more Silo-like? I'd really like to put a new pickguard on it and wire it up for two volumes and a master tone like I had my old strat wired up. I've also thought about a new pickup. I've got a JB in there now with 500k pots, but I'm thinking about EMG's or a DiMarzio Fred. When I tried out the Mesa in the store, I used an Ibanez Satriani model and thought that guitar with the FRED sounded really good. Just not sure how it'll work with the poplar body.

Catdaddy- Ya, I'm gonna get the Marshall fixed and take her along on the road as a backup head.

Smd24fan- I'm pretty sure that I'm gonna get the Mesa cab. I see 'em here on C-list all the time for cheap (relatively speaking).

Well, at least with the Mark V and JP guitars, you've got products used by and designed with the input of JP himself. JP likes Mesa. So, you can be sure JP guitars are going to sound great with a Mesa.

Very true...I just love the bigger frets and skinny neck on the JP.
