I am delighted with my Stingray, but it displays the standard weakness of the G string being slightly quieter than the rest. In fact the A and D are also louder than the E. I note that the magnets are higher for the A and D to cater for the expected variation in the height of the strings due to the fingerboard camber.

I'd like to lessen the difference by either raising the G and E or pressing down the A and D. Is this possible without damaging anything? Has anyone ever done this?

Any help welcomed

Thanks

I Don´t think that is possible. At least without losing the warranty. But I am not sure. Someone will answer this. What I can tell you is that HH Stingrays have a pickup with all the poles at the same height. Anyway, I have H and HH Stingrays, and I don´t see any problems with my Gs sounding lower than other strings.

i found that the lower sounding g string is there when the amp is at lower volumes but when its at medium volumes it performs as good as any of the other strings

Thanks for your responses. I suppose I'd like to know if the magnets are an interference fit or fixed in some way. If they're not glued in they may be pressed to different heights. It seems the different heights over-compensates for the fingerboard radius. If the magnets are the same height, like the later HH, output will be more even.

Anyone?
