Yes, and Fiesta Red became Coral Red, Sonic Blue became Powder Blue. A copyright issue perhaps?

I don't believe Copyright had anything to do with the New Names, Ernie Ball was a fan of Cars as many of us are so I think the EB team really liked the Pastel colors as these we're 60's automobile colors and they chose to call them colors as they see them, Myself at one time a big fender collector I'm really glad to see someone finally getting these colors correct, Just my own personal take. Thanks and enjoy these new beauties.

I don't think they are the same shades. Coral Red appears lighter than Fiesta Red to me. I think the pastel idea is right on and all the colors changed a shade from the originals.

Those colors all changed shades as fender went on, 1962 Fiesta Red is more like EB's Coral Red, in 1965 fiesta got much darker as did surf Green, keep in mind also that the Bar room instruments changed in many ways as the clear yellowed with smoke.
I just thought they did an incredible job at bringing back some great colors. I love it.

No doubt, these are great colors! I'm a fan of the darker Fiesta Red that was first shown but I can certainly live with the Coral.

To help with the OP's question, here's a couple of pics.

The Seafoam we saw in an early Torture thread:

And the Mint SR5 from the SR5 thread:

woaaa almost no difference, i see more of a pearlescant blue shining through in the mint though, why did they cancel out the seafoam?

To be honest I'm not sure seafoam was really a color option, I think by mistake someone called the mint green seafoam, the real seafoam had a lot of blue in it.

lighting and a new camera is why those pics are different.

Exactly, Fiesta Red along with many colors look many different shades due to lighting etc. Some colors just don't show their real beauty in a photo, its just hard to capture them just right.

I thought this was why also - notice the background sheet is darker on the first photo, with a slight blue tinge!

BP and crew should take a huge round of applause for these colours and neck options - they really compliment the elegance of the original designs of the basses.

I can't wait to get my hands on one

thanks so much BP! as an artist this would have driven me nuts! (im particular about differences in shades that are in the slightest). but im glad to see im not going to have to "wait" for a seafoam green to come out. i was wondering though, how long are the classics gonna be made for?

See now I don't think these will come 3EQ because the whole idea for this series is to go back to the Original Bass which was 2EQ. Again I'm assuming I'm right on this, could be wrong tho.

Don't dismiss the 2EQ, many people swear by it. Check out Oli's stingray demos and you will hear a noticable difference between the two. To me, a 2EQ does sound a tad 'cooler' - based on my limited experience.

I own many of both and it's like having 2 kids, they both are cool and you love them both, so I suggest you buy as many as you can because they all are going to sound Killer.
