I just discovered this thread. Having gone through this process myself a few times i can totally understand all of the passion and frustration when setbacks come. I can say from my experiences with a "S" guitar i have had many offers to buy or trade for that guitar and because of the energy that went into it i would never part with it. This will be something that you hold onto forever and love playing.

Keep up the great work and i look forward to seeing the final project.

Glad to see everyone is as excited as I am to have this done. I'm dreading putting it all back together, but it's a labor of love as they say.

Scooby, it's definitely taken me long enough, haha.

peterd79, I have no doubt this will be with me as long as I'm capable of housing it.

Looking forward to the end result which I feel will be amazing as the talent so many guys have is just mind blowing.

I really have to tip my hat to Norrin as that finish is off the chart.

Well fellas, it's not much, and unfortunately the picture is really small because it's only a camera phone picture, but it's something!

I woke up to this in a text message in my inbox this morning...

I got primed. Next step is the color coat.

Needless to say, I'm excited all over again :D

Just thought I'd share the small update.

Glad to see everyone so excited about the progress. Unfortunately, it still seems no where near done! Keep in mind, I still need to buy a bunch of wiring to redo about 90% of the electronics. Most of the electronics were just snipped instead of being de-soldered. Rather than tape em back together, I figured it'd be a better idea to just go ahead and replace as much of the wiring as I can. I'm not real great with soldering yet, so that could take me a couple of days. After making sure all of the electronics are copacetic, putting the guitar back together will be a breeze...the only problem I foresee, is I'm no good at setup! I can raise and lower my action with reasonable ease, but truss rod adjustment and fret crowning/leveling I've always been too afraid to attempt. Besides, I lack the tools! I'm hoping the guitar doesn't need a setup by my local luthier...he's thorough, but it normally takes him a couple of weeks to get to it. But if need be, it's worth doing right.

Just discovered this thread. Awesome project man. What color did you decide on?
Thanks Luke.
The mockup is somewhere in this thread, but it's gotten to be a long one.
The finished project SHOULD look like this when it's done (sans the inlay)

bodypaint.jpg

Eventually I'll bite the bullet and shell out the ridiculous amount of money to get black poles for the pickups like in the mockup. I'll be picking up a black DiMarzio Strap Lock also.

That reminds me...anyone got one they wanna donate? :D

Work on the guitar started in early April. It's actually taken me far too long to get it this far, but procrastination and set backs (and life)have gotten the better of me during this project. I could have finished it months ago had I not procrastinated so hard, but it's all about the journey. And then playing the end result until my hands fall off

Quick, someone send Morbid a 12 pack of starbucks double shots and a bag of bagels so he can burn the midnight oil.

The suspense in this thread is killing me!

Best of luck to you on your project!
