Why not to buy a JP BFR

Ok guys,
I was all set to pull the trigger on a BFR Trooch, when I got a deal I just couldn't pass up on "another guitar". In order to make myself feel better, I've come up with several excus....er...reasons why it was smart to not buy a BFR:

I'm waiting to see what finishes might be available on the JPX

I prefer the feel of an unfinished neck

After watching re-runs of Jericho, and given that the Mayan calendar ends in 2012, it is smarter to use the extra money to put into canned foods, generators and firearms.



Did I miss any?

Well, some of them are weak excuses, since:

- the JPX will only be available in the borolo (AFAIK)
- the JPX has a finished neck, too

So, don't waste Your time, buy a BFR right now, You only have two more years to play it anyway.

How do you intend to protect yourself and your canned food if you cannot wield a JP BFR? For that matter, why would you want to protect yourself with no JP BFR?

These are all valid points gentlemen, and further proof of my failure to gauge the value of a JP BFR in a post-apocalyptic America.

It doesn't make sense to horde food for an apocalypse. Starving people will just kill you for it. But people would share what little food they have with you if you could entertain them with your BFR JP. The way I see it, it's not safe for you not to get it.

This is always a tough call. But the fact is, no matter what you buy there will always be a new model around the corner. You could wait forever.

If it makes you happy and you can afford it, buy what you want now. It's just a thing, you can always sell it later if you want something else. And if you're worried about the hit on resale value, find a used EBMM, it'll hold its value.

I don't want to put salt in your wound here, but I just got a BFR (chose it over the standard JP) and it is by far the best guitar I've ever played. And I'm sooooo glad I chose it over the standard!

Because of the 12th fret BFR inlay. Two small ambiguous dot inlays will suffice.

Since JP's are made to withstand melting, they are likely to be the only guitars to survive the apocalypse anyway.
