I recently bought a BFR JP Baritone just because I wanted to upgrade my baritone, and it had the best features out there. Well, I was really impressed and thought I could do the same with my 7-string. You all know the story, learn to be patient.

So, while I am patiently waiting, I have missed some of the basic facts about the BFR concept. This has probably been covered at length, so please take pity on a newbie.

I know the BFR's are made in small batches, but how small. 10 to 20 at a time? Do they do a single color per batches? Models a batch at a time? Are they just produced on a per order basis?

That sort of thing.

Also, I have learned to keep an eye on Dargin's post where he post pictures of the BFR's as they leave. Does he post every BFR produced, or do some fall through the cracks?

Thanks for any answers, I know you guys will know :). Just trying to deepen my appreciation.

if you order a BFR of one color, the dealer must deliver that color, not a random one, they are made to order yes. may i suggest an awesome Koa 7?

i think some of the BFRs never make it to the photo page AFAIK.

and congrats on your baritone. your one of very few. :D

Thanks for the info. Sounds like they pretty much only make what is ordered, is that an accurate summation?

Koa 7, hmmm, would be nice, I am holding out for a Cherry Sunburst 7 in Flamed maple :).

EBMM doesn't keep inventory of any guitars. They're all made to order, including BFR, standard, Bass...everything.

Cherry Burst is hot, man. I'm a quilt guy myself, but the flame tops coming from SLO have been killer lately.

The tone block is a block of mahogany which has been placed in the body. It adds depth and character to the guitar tone. Here's a pic of BP holding a prototype 25th Anniversary Guitar body before being CNC'd completely. The darker wood is the mahogany tone block.:

Thanks for posting that awesome picture (the wood that is, not BP ;)).

I had in mind what they are talking about, but that picture really shows what they do.

Yes the tone block extends from the neck pocket to the bridge.

So the immediate resonance of the guitar is picked up by the mahogany, which is very porous, so it resonates and sustains quite a bit. Add a chambered basswood body, and well, you have quite an amazing instrument.

I love my 25th. :D
