I like the bare wood myself too. I've wondered why the BFR has a finished neck. Maybe a touring pro like JP requires a more bulletproof neck that'll remain more predictable during a world tour through different climates?

Mahoghany is more porous than maple so it needed a finish to protect the neck.

Ahhh, it was only a matter of time before Dizzy's proverbial "cheer-you-up" via dumping a gallon of sea salt on a gaping wound, style made it here.

:D

But I would definitely give some time to bond with the instrument.

Having a modest/good rig to compliment the instrument is also very very important. There's nothing like a $200 rig to make your $3000 dollar instrument sound horrid.

Dear Dizzy,

I present my ideas and feelings with as much honesty as I see fit. Please do not criticize me for writing with eloquence and thoughtfulness. The initial post was intended to entertain, but also convey the excitement of NGD and the bitter disappointment that sometimes follows. Not all of us find it necessary to hide behind sneering sarcasm, photoshopped images and derisive emoticons.

Yours Truly,

Jeez Mate, you need to lighten up.
You're about the only one here that hasn't realised you're supposed take anything I post with a pinch of salt.

And I don't know how many times I (and others) have tried to explain that. (ref : "Feel Players" thread)

I'd hate to think of the emotional carnage that would have been inflicted if you were a lefty.

TM, your post was great.
Your experience was unfortunate.
I truly hope it all works out for you.

Don't forget I tried to assist in your original "help" thread and posted detail (with pics) about how you would inevitably get a shock at how dark BBB is under normal lighting...... It's DARK..... yet you still seemed surprised.

No-one can help with the neck thing, it's all personal - and looks like it hasn't worked out for you - really unfortunate.

As for the "hiding behind sneering sarcasm ....." comment, I'm not sneering, and I'm not hiding behind anything.
I love a laugh and making others do the same, but if things get serious, I say it as it is....... and I'm good to go at backing it up.

As much as your (and I repeat) great post was intended to entertain, so was mine.

It just seems that you're overly sensitive to being the butt of a joke.
Try dressing up in a purple g-string and taking the piss out of yourself once in a while - it may help reduce your sensitivity.

FFS, just HTFU and Chill out man.

That's funny, 90% of people work it out very quickly

I'm just a lefty dullard and even I figured it out.

TM...Dizzy doesn't go after people with malice...it's all about fun. He's taken the piss out of me and a few others more times than I can remember over the last couple of years...but it's a give and take...we throw it right back...but again...all in fun.

I still think you gave up too easily on the neck, but it's a personal thing and I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. There are some great people on this board (including Dizzy)....I hope you stick around and find that out.

TM21 ... if you're going to participate in Internet forums, you're going to have to develop a bit of a thicker skin. Dizz was trying to keep it light hearted, most of us appreciate the humour.

You put your story out there- given that you promptly returned the guitar I think you're going to have to expect a bit of a ribbing from the crew here. It just goes with the territory. (And c'mon man ... you've taken shots at others before.) Besides, if you really have an issue with someone, take it to a PM.

That said, it sucks being disapointed and it's happened to everyone at some point. Just have a laugh and get on to the next one. It's just a guitar ... life's too short to let this stuff get you down, man.

TM update us on the guitar.

Whats going to happen next? This is why I cannot possibly stress how important it is for you to try the guitar first.

I know your circumstances, and that access isn't the easiest thing for you, but a roadtrip would be well worth it.

Put in 60 bucks for gas and head to a bigger store that'll carry them. These guitars are thousands of dollars, a big investment, 60 bucks for gas, 15 or so for food, is not a bad investment to make sure the money you've earned is going towards something that fits you.

People are funny. And sometimes dumb.
Did somebody call my name?

I had the most beautiful axis. It took me a couple of years to figure out I Like other necks better.

I finally found a trans red SiLO with a floyd and a great maple neck. I restored it, gave it a great new guard. tried it for a couple weeks. The neck was finished and I really like the unfinished better.

Good luck to you TM and thanx for the good ritein

Sorry the BFR didn't work out for you. The good news is that there's a ton of EBMM's to choose from :) In all seriousness, I know how you feel. I had an Axis Super Sport which sounded fantastic, had a wonderful neck, and looked like a million dollars. The only problem -- it just wasn't comfortable for the way I play and hold a guitar. It was a sad day when I realized that and chose to sell it. The positive side is that I have three other MM's which are totally comfortable and ever bit as good as the ASS I gave up -- albeit different from the ASS. Keep hunting.

I agree, you must try your guitar before you buy it. Its the only way you know if you are gonna agree with it. Nothing wrong with ordering a 2nd Axis sight unseen or something... but a BFR PET with out playing it first?

Anyway, keep looking as you will find soon. And don't let Dizzy get to you... its all in good fun.
