NGD!!! Pickup question.

Hey all,

Finally picked up the used JP6 I've had on layaway for a few weeks!!! Plays like butter. I love it. I don't know how old this particular guitar is because I haven't hit the serial # thread yet to have it dated. I did however look for markings on the baseplates of the bridge and neck pickups. I expected there to be a usual DiMarzio code of "DPblah blah blah" but instead found stickers that are in the pics.

Edit: sorry the pics of the stickers didn't show up to good. The model number on the bridge pickups is: BHWP3 and the model number on the neck pickup is: BHNP1


Can anyone help me out with identifying? I'd call CS but its 5:30 and I'm sure they're closed.

Custom DiMarzio made for EBMM and JP

BHWP3 = Ball Humbucker W____ Petrucci 3
I believe the Hummer you have in the bridge is a Steve's Special.

I don't know what the W stands for..

Ya my bad, I took them with the crappy camera on my blackberry when I was cleaning her and putting foam under the bridge pickup so I could raise it up a little bit. I saw how bad the pics were after posting, so I went back and typed in the model codes.

Use the macro setting on your camera to focus up close and take clear pictures! ... btw nice guitar!!

Your bridge pup is the D-Sonic and your neck pup is the Petrucci custom which is basically a tweaked Air Norton.

foam ? hummm a little piece of wood might be more appropriate, at least something harder than foam

Why wood?? there is some rather stiff foam that would seem to work well I'd think.

That's what I figured, but any other DiMarzio pickup I've had in the past either had a model number stamped into the baseplate (as was the case with my Super Distortion which had DP100 stamped on it) or hand-written on a little sticker (which I've seen on older pickups)

I'm thinking of ordering the pickup config. that comes stock in the new JP's, but I wanna give these a fair shake first.

Lol ya, I'm still working the camera thing.

I love this guitar!!! I found one day when I was picking up a Duncan Custom Trembucker for my SUB1. The guy took it in on trade and save for one nick near the bridge it was in almost flawless shape.

Its everything I've wanted in a guitar since I realized what I wanted in a guitar.

I also took back my Mark V and picked up one of the JCM 800 2203 re-issues, a new Ibanez WH-10 wah pedal and a Pedal Train pedal board.

The DiMarzio pickups that are made for EBMM aren't marked in the traditional manner by the folks at DiMarzio. All that I've seen just have a piece of white paper (sticker) with the identifying information on it. Even the Duncan pups in the Al are like that. For example here is one of my Silhouette Special guards.

The hummers do have an F stamped in as well as a couple of letters, but that's it.....(see photo) wait...
it looks like there are the words "DiMarzio Pickups" stamped on the back under the sticker on the humbucker.

Nice axe! Good scoop I'd say. And I think you are wise to give those pickups a fair shake before you buy new ones.
