Back when my local dealer was actually carrying come EBMM geetars - he had a Silhouette Special, tobacco burst with rosewood board and trem, hanging on the wall for quite a while. I had saved up almost all the cash for that guitar, went down to buy it and what do you suppose I discovered. Yup. GONE! Some guy walked in a couple days before me and plunked down the bills for it.
And I was also considering the one in the FS thread, which has now been sold for quite a while I believe.

Yeah az. My post on page 6 describes the problem, I guess you read that. As far as it being shifting the neck, I would have had no idea of what to do. I’m as mad at the sales guy for not knowing and also not knowing about EBMM CS.

I REALLY love the original LUKE 1 Pearl Blue color. I wish that would be available on the current LUKEs. All the nice blue colors are not available anymore :(. Thank goodness I got my CBP SS though. The one guitat I would have liked to order would be a Silo Special with the ALL Rosewood neck when they were available as BFRs. I am still waiting on a Silo Special BFR with a tone block :D.

Pearl Blue!

Pearl Blue is darker. It was available on the first generation Lukes I believe.

Blue Pearl is still available and found on all the instrument line.

The Axis is Blue Pearl

OK, spoke to Scott (EBMM CS) my 2001 (G15788 - 9/21/2001) ASS is Pearl Blue. This was an older Luke 1 color but, was re-resurrected for a limited GC run in 2001. From what I heard from a forum buddy;), there were only about 125 of these Pearl Blue Axis' produced (in different configurations/options) during this limited run. Thanks for questioning the color Foggy, since I found out that I have a pretty rare ASS!

Time to update your signature azazael!

Thanks!

I can’t believe Dizzy told me that the issue I had with this old ASS was a DIY fix. I want to know what the fix is.

Man... this just ticks me off to know I could still own this.

Yep, just slightly loosen the neck screws (5 of), gently tweak the neck upwards (i.e. towards top strap button) until it shifts.

Get the inlays / fret markers located centrally between the 3rd & 4th strings, retension the neck screws and voila.
Use inlays from the 17th / 19th Frets to align, as they are closest to the pivot point (neck pocket)

What looks & feels like a tiny shift in the neck pocket translates to a much bigger shift at the headstock, which in turn corrects what will appear to be a massive misalignment.

I had to do this to my Silhouette and DDII BFR JP6.

A bit of a knock on the neck could cause the misalignment, even in the case.

Of course, the adjustment direction is reversed if the misalignment is the other way, but from my Silo & DDII BFR experiences it appears that it probably doesn't happen that way too often because the fit is nice & snug at the top of the neck pocket when correctly aligned.

:)

There still is a transparent black BFR Axis with rosewood fretboard and the sweetest figured maple neck at a local store. Plays like a dream. Sounds even better. The quilt top is slightly too transparent black for me, almost grey. Looks like washed jeans from the side. She has also been in the store for a while - but all it would need a good setup, a caring polish rub and new strings, and she would be great.

I always check if she's still there when I'm in the store and wave her goodbye each time.

Oh well.

I still wish I had gotten the Rosewood Neck on my Silo Special when I bought it, cause it was during that time. But hey, you win some you lose some. The Maple neck is still really spiffy. If someone has an all RW neck for a Silo Spec they wanna sell, though......

The lighter side of the guitar body is where the flash hit so, you have to look at the darker parts, especially the headstock:

I took these pictures a while back this way so that you can see the color contrast with the flash only hitting a section of the guitar.

thanks Slav.

It still doesn't look like it to me, but I think it's mostly because the Axis top is flat, whereas the Luke is all curves.

Hijack over! Back to our regularly scheduled thread....

i'm gonna be honest here. back a few yrs ago scott smith sold one of his replicas he made. it was the evh double neck. it had all ebmm parts excepth the body. to this day i wish i would have bought it. it sold for somewhere around 2500. in that time i have added 3 other nice axis guitars but that might be a chance that will never come up again. :(
