Hi guys, I know this is really not exactly EBMM related but at the same time it doesn't cover an item from a direct instrument maker competitor so I guess mods can leave it running "s'il vou plait"

I would like some advice on a decent drum machine easy to practice with and easy to use, I am not that good with complicated stuff.

Mine is now defunct and died and it's so old (Boss DR-550 - 90's issue) that it wouldn't even be worth having it fixed.

I am looking for something easy to program rhythms with and possibly with an intuitive footswitch that you can use to kick in fills and tempo changes with.

Thanks

I don't have any knowledge of the subject, but Dave LaRue recommends the Korg Pandora PX5D...

Plus a couple Bongo videos makes this a little less OT...

Man, ...this guy Dave LaRue is really virtuoso player!

I'm from other side of planet so I admit that have not heard about him until now, but...perfect player indeed! :)

And this Bongos are killers definitely! :p

Alesis SR-16 - there's a reason it has been out for so-o-o-o-o long. Foot switch control is the best there is for live application. Very reasonably priced.

The Alesis SR-16 is the original "Phil" in "Phil 'n the Void" (see here).

They've recent came out with a new model (SR-18?) - probably worth looking into.

Thank you AnthonyD for the reply I was looking for.

Boss DR-3

The Boss DR-3 is an excellent and inexpensive drum machine. I now have the Dr-880 with two dual footswitches, but I sometimes long for the simplicity of the DR-3.

+1. The SR-18 is more expensive but still reasonable if compared to more hi end machines. I like Alesis stuff. Very sturdy built. Lots of quality for the buck.

Hey, Fran!
I play drums; why don't pay to have me flown "across the pond" so we can jam. When I lay into a groove, I can feel/sound like a machine!
Of course I eat/drink more than a drum machine and you'd have to rent a drum kit, arrange sleeping accommodations, find a full-time sub for me back home... let's see what else? Oh, yeah...dark beer...or martinis!

Right on Nick, I've been waiting for someone to mention the obvious.

Fran, are drummers that hard to find? I realize drummers who keep good time time are, but hey, even my wife can keep a beat (not bad for an engineer).

This post is akin to a drummer looking for a bass machine. Or worse, a drummer looking for a keyboard player who plays bass with their left hand.
