Question Bongo HS/HSp, S pickup question? + more...

I can't find information of Bongos with S pickup about technical solution according single coil pickup!

Direct question:
Does S pickup on Bongos have Phantom (dummy) coil in series/parallel, whatever?
If does, how it's wired and where it's placed?

One more Q:
Just came on my mind right now, never think about it before, ...how is H pickup wired on Bongos?
Serial or parallel?

Here is a dummy S pickup, but I don't know how it's wired. And I believe the H is parallel.

I ask that 'cause HSp Bongo 5 is on the edge of my choices for the next Music Man and I'm collecting final informations!

I'm still in conflict with myself, Hp or HSp? Problem is that H pickups are at the different positions on those two models, and I already have HS Sterling..., I don't know, but I admit, I'm more bridge player and that's for sure!

Main problem is that I can't try Hp model, I only tried HSp 5 at my local dealer, and recently my friend bought HS 4 nice black second hand Bongo in half price (good deal) which I tried too, he actually trade it for a totally ruined old '83. 7ender P bass!

The following is just an opinion from someone who has never played an Hp....

Go for the Hp if you are a bridge position player. I love my HSp, Love, Love, Love it. But I am a center position player primarily.

Why I say the Hp for you is that the H will sound "fatter" moved forward a bit, and the Piezo will add a beautiful thump and bite.... but then again... I have NO experience with an Hp... but those who do love the heck out of it.

Well, yesterday I bought new Coated strings at my local EBMM dealer and noticed that pretty blue metallic Bongo HSp is still hanging on the wall in the store! (It's my destiny )
I couldn't resist and try it for a third time , this time on Messa-Boogie with tube preamp and 2x10+Hf MB cab! (we disconected 1x15 box, 'cause I wanted 2x10 like I play!)

Just a quick look at last time shotted cell phone pic:



Well, this Bongo really kicks an ass (as you guys in the USA say )!

Dealer gives me now 30% discount 'cause it's 2009. model ...what to do?
I really like it, but must finish house interior until summer, my wife could kill me if I buy this baby at this moment!

Anyway, just talked with dealer, and we both agree that with balance pot I can any time tune it into a single H Bongo tone! That's in fact true! Balancing is like moving the pickup, well almost like!

However, next week I'll go to final testing with my brother, he's also a great bass player, former professional and his opinion is very important to me, so we'll see!
I'll keep You informed guys about the situation I do have here!

Hmmmm, not exactly. It's still a Bongo, so that Bongo magic is there, but the H tone is not that accessible with the HS. The HS is better

The H is fantastic, it really is. I've played a few and loved them, but the HS has something special with the pickup closer to the bridge - it's a really biting tight tone (of course you know, you've played one!) But I would say that the Single H Bongo is always going to be a lot more aggressive than the smooth and sweet sounding HS.

Sorry, but I'm not interested, or ready for a 6th gear!

Interesting. Id love a Bongo, and this is making it even harder to resist!

I am thinking HH, purely as all my basses are H or HS....or the SSS Al.

I need a double H in my life!
