I have a fixation with ebony fretboards. No rational reason why.
As far as I know there are not that many EBMM basses made with ebony fretboards. There is the Sterling Onyx, the Dargie II, the Ltd edition (was 100?) 5 strings from a few ago and the GC ltd editions.
Any other I miss?

I am also wondering if there is any chance of a Classic with an ebony fboard?

The Ebony LE that was sold in Germany also has an ebony fingerboard. I think there were 100 made, in 2008 or 2009? Black mahogany body with ebony board.

There is a particular unlined fretless one of these that is quite possibly the most beautiful bass I've ever seen.....

And don't forget THIS one....

I love Ebony boards to, when I first started, maple was my thing more for the overall look I found, once gigging for a while I prefered the harder darkers woods, and big fan of Graphite, but an Ebony 5 is on my list as I am finally going to take the plunge and give a 5 a bang. (the stealth is calling me)

I would like to have Bongo with ebony FB and custom inlays (like DD II or something like that)
:)

That would be nice!

 Now THAT is the most beautifull EBMM I have ever seen. WOW! Luck man the owner of that.

I believe that one is still for sale. So if you're feeling lucky (well, are you?), you might call Pete DuBaldo and get EXTREMELY lucky!

Or an ebony board on a fretted classic SR 5 in trans white. If that comes available I will sell my other stuff at a loss in order to get it.

it does seem that ebony is becoming less of a one off thing with EBMM. Or at least more common.
@MMBassplayer
How did you order that? was it an upcharge? Is it a particular BFR or other ltd run?

Dont tempt me... no I am still recovering financially and mentally from my 25th Anniversary purchase. :D

-Matt

I am sure this one would catch quite the premium compared to a 25th. That is assuming Pete would sell it to you. I think he is quite fond of it. JOSH

That 20th is my "if money was no object bass" but one day I hope to give Pete the pleasure of shipping it to me ;).

I should probably stop linking that....:)

If you add that to your collection, you'd most probably have the hottest collection of EBMM (production) basses in the world.

Me too..

I don't really care what type of wood the fingerboard is on a fretted bass. But fretless and ebony seems to be the way to go...IMHO.

I used to be the same way (and lord knows its been debated ad nauseum on talkbass whether it matters on a fretted bass). I can hear the difference between rosewood, maple and ebony on fretted basses. and I'm half deaf from 30 years of playing loud music and working at shows! After I tried another brands bass with the ebony fretboard I was hooked. checked out an Onyx Sterling and still wish Id bought it!
