How do you think a BFR Petrucci with different tonewoods would sound?
EDITED FOR COHERENCY:
The BFR (Non Koa/Dargie) as we all know, has a Alder body, Mahogany tone block, with a Mahogany neck and Rosewood Board. But i was just wondering what the guitar would possibly sound like with a different wood combination.
Flame Maple Top, Mahogany Body, Flame Maple Neck, Ebony Fretboard is the combo I'm particularly interested in.
You may note that this was one of many custom creations EBMM constructed just for Petrucci's EBMM clinic days.
There is no doubting the BFR Petrucci is a deep guitar. Meaty and thick. But it never sounds overbearing.
The wood combination mentioned above is a different kettle of fish. From Maple to Mahog is a big jump. As is Mahog to Maple. Thoughts? Ideas? Ravings?
