Neck and head stock finish

Howdy,

If the necks, including fret board on my Axis' are finished in BC oil and wax, why are the heads/stock a different shade to the rest of the neck? You know how if you look at the back of the headstock you can see the distinctive "lighter/darker" shades that runs from one end of the nut to the other. What gives?

BB, Are you sure that its a clear gloss finish. My Axis is a natty head and it sure does not look like its a clear gloss finish.

yeah both my luke and silo are like that.I think it's a satin finish on the headstock to the nut,then the oil finish for the rest of the neck for natty headstocks,and clear gloss on painted/matching headstocks.

Silos and Alberts look good natty, but not Axii. Trust me on this one. Does your 25th have natty stock? Coincidence?
