Hello!

I got my first JP6 few months ago and absolutely love it. Now I am considering buying a JP7 but none of the local shops have it in stock.

My question is for these of you having both JP6 and JP7 - how does the JP7 neck compares to the JP6 in terms of width, thickness and profile? Please be as specific as possible.

To give you a point of reference I like JPs neck profile the most, closely followed by Luke's.

Thanks!

Being a 7 string, the neck is wider to accommodate the low b string. Other than that, the thickness is about the same and the profile is a bit flatter.

Long story short, extremely easy transition. I love my 7 string more than my 6 because it's just a perfect fit.

You should search this topic, it's come up a lot in the past.

Just my 2 cents. As always, the main rule is "try before You buy", in case of a 7-String even "make up Your mind before You try". What I mean is, You have to be sure You really need the 7-String, the JP7 is too fine a guitar and too big an investement to just try out if 7-String is a cool thing or not. Do You require additional bass, do You play a lot of d-tuned stuff? Do You often need to fill out the sonic space 'cause You play the only melody leading instrument in a band/trio (my case)?

If the answer to any of those questions is Yes, then welcome to the wonderful world of the best 7-String on the market! As You can see, I have completely switched to the JP7s after owning a lot of JP6 in the past. The transition is, indeed, very smooth, and the tonal possibillities You gain are worth every bit of a small hastle of getting used to the wider neck.

I feel it's very comfortable as it is even if You didn't have any experience with the JP6 before, cause I'm used to classical guitars with their wide string spacing, and the JP7 feels just right.
