Yep that's right my first american made instrument is an Ernie Ball MusicMan Stingray. I fell in love with her and worked myself to the bone to bring her home. No lie I didn't sleep for days lol. Here it is next to my Squier VM Tele Custom (yes I'm a Fender man as well, but I've recently had my eyes open to Leo's other amazing bits of work). I do have a real question though. Is it okay to switch tunings on it? I'm not keen on it nor will I because I beleive it will stress the truss rod and neck more which isn't necisary, but I thought I'd get some opinions.

What do you mean by "switch tunings"? What are you up to?

I'd say its fine, as long as you avoid dramatic changes like to go from EADG down to BEAD ore up to ADGC-baritone tuning without changing string gauges.
I'd say without adjusting string gauges a full tone up or down is not a problem for a rather sturdy SR neck.

Anyway: Changing tunings means changing the tension on the strings and the trussrod. Setting up the action of your instrument becomes more of a compromise, when you'll have to take alternate tunings into account.
Subtle changes, like an occasional drop-D is something you won't hardly notice though...

Thank you all, and trust me I've been playing tons! I would be just drop d-ing it. So nothing extream, I'd never even put my SX Jazz through that, and that's worth almost nothing! lol Thanks for the imput guys

If you swtich back and fourth from drop D alot you should get yourself a hipshot bass extender, just flip back and fourth from one to the other, super handy.

Drop-D tuning is absolutely no problem, as others already stated. And I'd also recommend looking into the Hipshot D-Tuner in case you want to switch tunings more often, maybe even within a song.

Yeah the hipshot d-tuner could be an alright idea too. I don't change tuning often enough for it to be necessary right now but I'll look into it.

Beautiful! I love the way Stingrays can look ultra-modern/sparkly like the most hi-tech boutique bass, or like super vintage thumpers with as much heritage as p-basses etc. with just a shift in the finish.

Yeah all EBMM instruments can look so different from eachother in different colours, and I love how they have to grow on you, at least in my case, because those are the instruments you love best and Bassmedic I'd defenitly recomend getting a Stingray. They're amazing work hourses, and the quality and just the bass over all is top notch!
