Another great gig last night, another four hours of killer tone and amazing playability.

I've owned nothing but Music Man for going on five years now, and experiences like last night still blow me away as if the bass was brand new. I'm still waiting for the placebo effect to dampen down a bit, but it just isn't happening.

I love my Bongos.

I'm not weird enough to love them in that way, though.

On the other hand, hmm......

Plus they asked us back. Which is what really counts.

Right on AD.

Similar effect with me - I played my fretless Ray through a gig Friday night - great sound all night. Played the LE 2007 at a jam last week and ended up playing 'trip hop' stuff with a girl singer and guitarist with a bank of effects (Glory Box - Portishead) - the sound fitted perfectly.

I jammed on Friday night with the simplest rig I have ever used. My SR4 and a Mesa Walkabout 112 combo amp. I walked in with the amp in one hand and my bass case in the other. There was another bass player there who played a host of basses through the same amp but the Stingray had such a fantastic tone. Growly and warm with tons of cut and punch! Nothing but kudos all night regarding my tone. I had a blast and just loved the tone of my bass. Doesn't get much better for me the EBMM.

I've yet to own a bongo, but one day I will and I'm sure I will feel the same every time I play it as I do my SR4. Just totaly in love with the feel and sound of it!

adouglas... pray that you never try a 25th or the equivalent reincarnation "the Reflex"... you will end up with a different opinion. The Bongo still rates very high in my all time chart but the 25th has it for dessert. Word!

I've always shunned EB in the past. That is, until the deal on a 'Ray that was presented to me was toooo sweet. Now I have dreams about these things. Damn you all for assisting me in this addiction. You are all terrible forum-mates for not helping me crack this Ernie Ball lust that seems so right. :D

Seriously, after having a crack at a Stealth HH Stingray today, it just keeps getting worse. I'm seriously thinking of selling a kidney for that bass.

Playability, tone, looks...EB has it all.
