As a prospect user of Music Man guitars, more specifically, the JP models, I was wondering about the different online retailers: "newjerseyguitarandbasscenter", "chucklevins", "drumcityguitarland" and "basscentral", so, among these, which one(s) would you recommend as the best one(s) regarding customer service, delivery, availability?, are they all 100% reliable and trustworthy?, and one last thing, is it normal to make down payment deposits in advance to reserve a guitar months before it's in stock?

I'd appreciate any advice on this, thanks.

Not sure if I can say which one is the "Best" but I've done business with both drumcityguitarland and basscentral. Both were fantastic to deal with. The plus for DCGL is that they will set up the guitar with whatever strings you want and whatever tuning and then will set up the guitar professionally. They also usually throw in freebies like picks or T-shirts, etc.

Basscentral was unable to do this at the time I ordered a guitar because Beaver had just had his guitar tech employee quit on him, but Beaver will negotiate price sometimes if it's a guitar he's had in stock a while.

Texas Finally!
There are many retailers out there, I have used many:p just ask anyone:D

Of the ones you listed, I have only dealt with 2, Chuck Levins, nice helpful people, quick to respond though I ended up not buying from them, Bass Central, Beaver and crew are great and yes if it has been in stock can work a deal. I do not care about the set up thing, MM guitars are set up perfect from the factory, no need to be set up, and I get irritated if a shop does one.

And while freebies are nice not needed just a killer price works for me.

I cannot say which or who is best, I like dealing with all of them, also I use Musicians Friend, Guitar Center, DuBaldo Music, The Perfect Guitar and Mojos Music.

Best bet if your looking for an in stock JP is to look at them all contact them and go from there.

OF the ones you've mentioned, I've only dealt with Bass Central. Beaver and everyone there were great to deal with. They responded to my email very quickly and gave me a price that I couldn't pass up. It was shipped out the same day. Great bunch of folks.

I've also bought a few guitars from Pete DuBaldo. You can't go wrong there either.

Look around but don't hesitate at either one if they have what you're looking for.

Haven't done business with Dubaldo but I'm local to Drum City Guitar Land and they're pretty cool. That said, Chuck Levins is my favorite music store in the world. Brian Meader is Da Man!

Give Pete DuBaldo a PM, he is a forumite here, and he will hook you up. Great guy to deal with and will be like family. I know as I have known him for years and he is a cool dude. I would vouche for him in a heartbeat.

Well, thank you guys for the info and advice, it's very useful for somebody who has done business in the past only with big retailers (Musicians Friend, Guitar Center, Sam Ash), therefore, not familiar at all with a close-knit community of buyers and sellers such as this, it seems like a big family and I guess that's definitely a good thing.
Regards,
AJ.

I've been to New Jersey Guitar and Bass Center... nice guys, small operation if I remember, though I've never bought from them before. I've purchased two guitars through Dubaldo, however... no regrets!
