Took my recently purchased 1998 Sterling (see avatar) to its first full band rehearsal last night and my band-mates implied that it was a "girls bass". The guitarist kept asking if it was "full size" or not? Other than that though it was a real treat. Great sound that sat well in the mix and very light weight, comfortable and very fast neck. I was very pleased but wonder. Is the Sterling classified like a Honda Del Sol, Mitsubishi Eclipse and VW Jetta? Is it a "girls bass"?

The Stingrays I used to own were nice but this Sterling is just so much more comfortable and easy to play. Worth taking a few hits from the bandmates. They shut up once they heard it though.

*Just a three piece so just drums and guitar besides me. Guitarist switches between a nasty 80's SG, a Washburn Les Paul and a Squier Tele and is your typical guitard so I don't worry too much about what he thinks.

Jepp - guitar & drums here too. The six-stringer is talking a lot - goes in at the left ear and out at the right...:D

Girl's bass? Nonsense.

First of all, girls can rock pretty hard too. Some of the harder classic rock covers we play is from female performers.

The Sterling may be the smallest of the MM bass guitars, but its got the biggest and most aggressive sound of them all.

Ignorant comment in so many ways.

*Talk about hard rockin! My other band is a Bon Scott era AC/DC cover band with a female lead singer no less. We call her Bonnie Scott.

*Won't have to worry about comments from this bands Angus either. He rehearses with a pinkburst Dano reissue and borrows a buddie's SG for gigs.

I have a stable of Sterlings here that would disagree with you. The power is in the player not the instrument. It is just a means to convey the message and my EB's have never ceased to pound that message out loud and clear.

By the way I know a few girls who can play circles around most men on bass so in their case, yes it is a GIRLS bass!

*You aren't disagreeing with me. You are disagreeing with my band-mates. I'm not the sexist one. And in their defense I think they were referring to its smaller stature, more elegant shape and all around sexier appearance when compared to the other logs I have brought to practice.
