Any takers?

I'm wondering because I would like to know how the user apply it to their bass lines. Do you usually use chords, or do they come out muddy? Do you just use it as an octave lower guitar?

I was listening to a Van Halen recording and was wondering to myself how the rhythm guitar + bass lines would be done on the Silo Bass and how it would sound. I haven't been able to try anything like it at the moment, but if it pleases my ear, I may add one to my arsenal when I get my settlement money...

actually I use one often. It is great in the studio...those van halen double parts on ou812 and for unlawful is our baritone made in the evh shape motley crue aerosmith metallica springsteen rodney crowell eagles to name a few

Live I use it when there are too many guitars and I kind of see how many times i can drive both the bass player and the guitarists mad

They are awesome, we've had a few come through and I've made sure to test them all. We've got one here in Sapphire Black and it is some serious fun to play - tons of chunk! I plan on picking up one for myself at some point.

I was considering using it as a bass replacement on some song. I would use it to play the rhythm part an octave lower as opposed to the bass part (there would be no bass player, just me on the Silo Bass riffing). Has anyone tried this with chords, not just the fundamental pitch in any chord? Does it sound terrible, or does doing so on the Silo Bass sound so much better than putting a rhythm guitar through a drop octave pedal?

Could someone tell me how the Silhouette bass is tuned and played? What I mean is, is it more like a bass or a 6 string guitar?

We've had one come through for a customer. That thing was seriously cool, surprisingly very lightweight and well balanced. I was quite impressed.

There is a forum member here, I can't remember his username that has recorded some great tracks with a silo bass. If only I could remember his username...

Hi, BP - is that low B like a traditional 5 string bass? I'm trying a silo out now and I am very impressed. It is an amazing instrument!

Sharon, the B-b is the same low B as on a 7 string guitar (one octave higher than a 5 string bass w/ low B)- I know the A-a version is one step lower than the B-b, and the E-e version that you have is the same register as a bass. Tuning down the Silo Bass to get the low B would require some ultra-thick strings - don't forget that a Bongo 6 would get the low B and come with a fretboard that a Boeing 777 can use as a runway! hehhehheh

I have a Blue Dawn Silo Bass A-a and it is a blast!

Thanks, Pete - that's pretty much what I thought, and yeah, I've only tried playing a non-Silo 6 string bass once, and it was like trying to get my hand around the blade of an oar!
