I still occasionally volunteer for the VA, and am getting ready to start volunteering on a project called, "The Veteran's History Project." Those involved interview Veterans of all the past conflicts from WWII to the present, and the video recordings of the interviews are posted/saved by the Library of Congress to preserve the memory of our Veterans. I can't wait to start up.

That is such a great idea. It took me a long time to research my Dad's WW2 service. He died 15 years ago and I had to research using the 'net and found great stuff to tell me he was a Air Mechanic/ Electrician on a WW2 Aircraft carrier (HMS Vengeance) servicing Fairey Swordfish and Barracudas and served in Japan.
Your research is paramount in capturing info such as this - so good luck with it.

I never get to volunteer as often as I'd like, but hope to get at least 15 interviews done per year. Some of the subjects are a couple of friends (1 a Desert Storm vet, the other Vietnam), and the rest we find through some of the VA hospitals, and or VFW's/American Legion groups. I'm happy you were able to find information on your father.
