Howdy folks

I may have to detune both my guitars down to Eb in the next few days and am wondering is there any special adjustments i have to make to either guitar.
My 25th has a trem and obviously we all now the JP trem is floating.Im due a string change anyway on both so i just need some advice from you guys before i detune both of them

Cheers,

Colin:)

I wouldn't mess with the JP as this is a floating trem so you may need more than intonation adjustment

as for the 25th just tune it in Eb and check the intonation maybe a slight truss rod adjustment

I don't think that you will need to do anything to the JP. As far as I'm concerned, tuning it a half step-down for a couple of days won't do much. However if you're a perfectionist or if this is for the long run, I would suggest getting it set up for Eb.

Huh? You basically told him to get it (JP) professionally set up, yet, do all of that to the 25th. Isn't that the same for the JP?

Change the strings, tune to Eb, tweak the truss (if needed) and check the intonation. Make sure the strings are stretched. The JP is the easiest guitar on the planet to set up.

On my new one I took it out the box and set it up to drop C. Easy as pie.

If you want the bridge to be level again, you'll have to adjust the trem claw on the JP. When you change the tuning it changes the angle of the bridge and it will take a little tweaking to get it back to level. You may or may not need to adjust the truss rod going to Eb.

EBMM non floating trems are no big deal to change on the fly.

Eb will be minor adjustments, even on the JP. YOu likely won't have to set intonation for just a half-step change. Going from E to something like C is a different story.

On the 25th, retune to Eb, adjust the truss as necessary. Maybe loosen up the trem a *very* small amount so the feel is the same.

On the JP, retune, adjust trem, retune, adjust trem springs until you get it right. It shouldn't take much. Then adjust the truss as necessary.

Easy as pie.
