These Basses are absolutely incredible Period, I now have 5 of them. Ernie Ball Has brought the guns out for these basses.
My recommendation is buy all the ones you can while Ernie Ball has all this cool wood because as you know it can be hard to get the cool stuff.

At any rate these are incredible Stingrays & Sterlings, impossible to go wrong here.

Stop already!!! They are most excellent. There's one that has caught my eye at gc (black w/ white pg , Birdseye maple fb) I've been lusting after it. I've been *considering* trading the others in for it

Man where did you find these lightweight ones. I have tried a lot of them around these parts and they have all been heavy. Over 10lbs each. I thought my Shell Pink one that weighs 9.4lbs was light. I can't imagine if it was lighter. Did you go and try these out or just have the store's weigh them and tell you over the phone.

By the way I agree with your original comment. These are great basses. I have my eye on Stingray Classic 5 right now. But I have to keep the weight of the instrument down to around 9lbs. My Big Al Fretless weighs 10lbs even and though I use a nice padded wide Levy's strap it still drags me down.

Well I Have Stores Located in the US that have my weight requirements and when they come in they call me ASAP and I usually buy them, It's a full time gig hunting them down the light ones but it's all worth it.

Well them light basses right there lack tone and sound very thin and stale to me; they lack the balls and punch of a heavier bass - - I heard a statement similar to this on another forum and I WILL believe it 100% as long as I own my 10+ pound Classics! ;) . You really need to acclimate yourself to heavier basses Dave, yeah I know you own hundreds blah, blah, blah but most of them are too light to be called basses . . . IMO :D

If I could own heavier basses I would. And in mindset I do agree that the heavier the bass the better the tone it's just my left shoulder and neck think otherwise. By the way I wish I owned hundreds of basses but in reality its under 5 now. I have found another toy that I want and I am saving for. Here it is.

Very Cool Car, Well each person has their taste in what sounds better, that's the beauty of life, With playing mostly Vintage Fender Basses for good portion of my life and all of them weighing under 9 pounds, so that's what I got used to
and to this day they still sound incredible and my phone seems to ring all the time so they must have sounded good to others.

But not every light bass sounds good just like not every heavy bass sounds good, you just have to find your nitch.

I have owned basses that have weighed anywhere from 7.8lbs to 10.6lbs. IMHO the best ones were the ones that weighed in between 8.5lbs and 9.5lbs. I remember playing a late 70's jazz bass at a store in Boston years ago. The thing weigh 11lbs. It had a maple body and neck. And it sounded incredible. I will never forget it. But the damm thing was so heavy I just couldn't keep in on my frame for more than a couple of minutes. I agree it's all in the eyes of the beholder.

I have 1 Ernie Ball That weighs 11 pounds it has a Maple body and that thing sounds incredible, I just prefer the lighter ones, they heavy ones don't bother my shoulder or neck the lighter ones just feel better for me.
