$286.20 for a new black StingRay with rosewood neck and white pickguard.

Seriously, isn't this illegal? Is Music Man SOL when dealing with Chinese conterfeiters?

These are complete cheap-ass fakes. You won't get what you think you're getting if you're crazy enough to send your money to China.

This is a "known" site and no surprise so I'm going to edit out the links in the original post.

They are made from Styrofoam, that's how they keep the weight down. They paint them with 95% lead paint. and they steal from our favorite Bass Maker, So I say just Kill them, it's ok with me.

It's not Pissing us off it's STEALING, if someone broke into your house and stole all your things, would you be pissed off or would you want to kill them.
Counterfeit kills everyone.
Thief's should be killed, Sorry but true.
Ernie Ball Pays a lot of money to keep their company in top notch so we can enjoy these Instruments that they make.

lol.

@Musicman Nut - I don't think T-bone meant anything by it. I know your passion for the product as I am the same way.

It is garbage. The part the I think really irks some of us is, we know the Ball Family on a more personal level. It is like stealing from family.

It sucks. But in a strange way its a right of passage validation thing..Everything successful gets ripped off. They dont counterfiet turds.

It is three notches worse than seeing a product copied by a competitor or a marketing campaign.

I do not accept the counterfieting I fight it but it is not a easy task.

Chinese Counterfeiting

I've read that the Chinese government is cracking down on all of the counterfeiting businesses. But I am somewhat suspicious that they are serious about stopping the illegal goods. My wife and daughter get a kick out of spotting all of the fake LV handbags. In fact, I read that 95% of that brand being carried in the US is conterfeit. Some of the fakes are pretty good and others can be spotted a mile off.

Counterfeiting is like the drug trade. It will never go away until the demand side drys up.

Thanks Koogs!

Dave, just so you know, I've competed with the Chinese for over 20 years and know R&D in China means Replicate and Duplicate. I also lost my first True Love Bass, a candy apple red S/R 4, to thieves out of the back of my car. So believe me, I'm with you. :D

It's all good, Sorry to hear about your Ray, then you know, the anger one can have, I think when you get ripped off in anyway, You feel so violated, I also own a few small Businesses and have had to fight people who rip you off and it's the amount of money it cost just to protect what was yours in the first place.
I'm not upset at anyone I just get my feathers ruffled when I see this Counterfeit stuff going on, and trust me when I see it at NAMM I let them know too rather they care or not, lol
Have a Great Bass Day folks.

I just got back from third trip to China last week. While I was over there I saw fake Iphones. The guy using it knew it was a fake and freely admitted it. From the outside you can't tell - even to the Apple logo. They fake everything and I have not seen much shame for it.

I tell you - the country is really changing. Evertime I go I see so much more construction and signs of opulence. Since everything over here seems to be made over there - you can really see the results of all the money we are sending over there. People there want modern goods and they are getting them.

... when talking about unbelievable prices: can it be that regular EBMM basses you get in Germany/Austria/Switzerland are then made from VERY VERY stupid counterfeiters? Or MORE original thanthe ones you get in the US?

E.g.: Guitar Center offers the Big Al at a price of mac $ 1802,5. The biggest german online-dealer wants to have EUR 2490,-That amounts to USD 3.375,69 (USD to EUR = 1,3557 while I write these lines - and the Euro is in free fall these weeks)
HOW COME? Are they flown in on 1st class seats each? Someone must earn gazillions here!
