Last night, I enlisted the services of a photographer who does all of the photos and vids at a venue that we play at frequently.

I told you this bass actually existed!

Ugh...

This is most beautiful Big Al I've ever seen!

This Candy Red w/MHeadstock really kicks an A**!!!

I see You already gigin' it, ...just wonder how it cut through the band?

What's Your favorite pup setting, series/parallel?

Thanks. This is my third night that I've used it. I've played it with both the full five-piece band and the three-piece (guitar/bass/drums) version of the band. I use parallel/active only! Great bass!

Now Congrats for real!!!

What a beauty! And the Matching headstock does look good on it too.

I have one demand: Can you describe the sound in series / passive mode and how it compares to the active mode?

I am trying to decide whether or not I can refuse to get one of those and any deeper information is much appreciated.

Series/passive seems to be a relatively "thick" sound which I'm thinking might be a good sound when playing rock (either with a pick or finger-style.) Most often I play finger-style and I also slap/pop when applicable. If I'm playing a cover song where the original recording's bassist is using a pick (like on "Roundabout" by YES,) I will then play that particular song with a pick.

Honestly, I haven't explored the series/passive setting very much as I'm sold on the parallel/active setting.

Comparatively, I find parallel/active to be brighter than series/active. And I generally find parallel/active to be hotter and brighter than either parallel/passive or series/passive.

If any observations/conclusions become more evident to me, I will PM you with them. I want to help you make an informed buying decision.

That being said, the Big Al 5 single H is a no-brainer, win-win choice in my book!

Great pictures! You have the coolest bass. By the way, I believed you owned it without posting pictures. The rest of these guys just wanted some bass porn. :p

I love it. White on red looks real tasty, my favorite Big Al combo so far. In fact my favorite bass so far :p I'd love to see the same combo on a 5SSS

Sure thing, but when it comes to new basses all anarchy will be thrown overboard and out comes the rule book. :D

That said: So it finally arrived! Congratulations on this sharp looking beast ... this model was born for the stage!
