Just received some on-stage pics of me playing "Big Red." The photographer got quite a few good ones.

What a ROCKER! The more I see that bass the more I like the color. Though I still would never own a red bass ;) I honestly have not gotten use to the feel of the BA 5 Fretless I own yet. It has very different feel than my other basses. The way it hangs on your body brings the neck a little lower than I am used to. I find myself trying to pull the neck up more to the position where my other basses sit. It's not neck heavy at all it balances fine. It just sits different. But I love the sound of it. I played it last night for the first half of our first set and it just cut through.
The Big Al combined with my new GK Neo 115 cab sounded incredible. But man after 7 songs I could feel it's weight(10lbs) taking it's toll on me. I guess I have to start working out :).

Looks killer! Will you ever be able to play your other basses on stage again?

Thanks; I'm glad that you like the color; I love it.

I bought a new all leather strap specifically for this bass, not so much for balance as for having a brand new leather strap that is still "stiff." Due to the angle of the upper horn and where the strap button is located on it, I found that my other older, more "broken-in" straps looked like they were about to pop off from the upper horn while I was playing. When I play over the top of the neck is when I'm most concerned about the strap coming undone because my left hand is not "wrapped" around the neck to catch it if it were to come loose. I'm going to permanently leave this strap on the bass even while the bass is cased to prevent the strap holes from stretching out which is caused by attaching and removing the strap continually. Unfortunately, none of my basses are currently equipped with strap locks.

Since I have multiple basses, I also have multiple straps all in slightly varying degrees of length; different shaped basses "hang" differently. I'm 5'9" and I have long arms for my height so I wear my basses right at my waist-line.

I have a live DVD of Sarzo playing with Dio. I've always loved Sarzo's "over the top of the neck" playing. I've been doing it for years and it's strictly for stage showmanship. I'm old-school; I've always believed that you should give the audience a "performance." There is not a night that goes by that someone doesn't comment about it.

good on ya man!

If there is no reason for the audience to just listen to a recording, you aren't doing your job on stage... that's one school of thought to playing live which I generally agree with.

Sorry to post once again, but this Candy Red Al really draws attention at the live performance, perfectly fit on the lighted stage, ...yeah, that's for sure! :)

I'll add one more "+" (plus) into my "little black notepad" for this color!

Great job EBMM, great deal mr. s.o.m.b. !!! ;)

Thanks, again!

Hey, feel free to post as many times as you like; "Big Red" likes getting compliments although I suspect that she is getting quite used to them.
